A quiet sanctuary overlooking the sea and hills, and located in a conservation area of the South Downs. The large 20 square metre room including lounge area with wooden floors has direct access into a delightful garden and is to the far side of the house away from hosts. The room is next to a bathroom with large shower facilities which is for sole use by guests. The room also adjoins an office with amazing views which too can be rented separately at the house should you wish to do any reading or writing. In front of the house is a terrace with an outside dining area. There is also a dining area within the house should you wish to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. The place is ideal for a peaceful retreat yet close to the excitement of the city centre in Brighton. Should you book for more than a week, a 30% discount is offered. THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA Country and coastal walks Walk to your right when out of the house and down the hill on Ovingdean Road towards St Wulfran or up the hill towards Roedean golf club. Walk to your left towards Beacon Hill across the reserve and past the windmill - to the coastal path that leads into the city centre past the Marina. - through Rottingdean village and go eastwards towards Saltdean over the hill. You can hire Brighton bikes at Rottingdean beach by White Horses. Blue Skies Glass Studio for stained glass workshops in Rottingdean (see Tripadvisor). Marina for rides on a yacht, jet ski or powerboat and trips to sea-based wind turbines. The city has plenty more to do and see. Welcome to our humble yet beautiful home. We're happy to host you and make your stay as homely as possible. We're well travelled and stayed in various places around the world to know what kinds of things we like in holiday accommodation, and would like to share this experience with guests. Surrounded by greenery, walks and a farm, the neighbourhood provides the best of a quiet village life yet close to the city centre in Brighton. The house is located next to the historic village of Rottingdean with the house and gardens of Rudyard Kipling, Pre-Raphaelite artists, cafes, pubs and a bakery. Down the hill is the a pizza place, awarded the best vegan outlet in Brighton. A short walk through the Beacon Reserve past the local Windmill leads directly to the seaside and Undercliff Walk for scenic coastal cycles, walks and 15 minute coastliner bus service to the city centre and Brighton Beach. You can also hire city bikes in Rottingdean village to cycle along the coast into the centre. Nearby is the Marina with cinema, supermarket, shops, recreations and restaurants. There is free parking in front of the house and at the Marina. DIRECTIONS TO HOUSE ON PUBLIC TRANSPORT: If you're travelling to the place by public transport: from Brighton train station, take the 27 bus immediately outside the station towards Saltdean (runs every 15-20 minutes). Get off at Greenways (the stop after Roedean School after the roundabout) after about 15 minutes bus ride along the coast. From the bus stop, walk to your left and then away from the sea, towards Beacon Hill then up to Longhill Road. OR from the train station walk 5 minutes to the left and get bus number 12, 12A/12B/12C or 14 (NOT the 12X) to Greenways (run every 5-10 minutes). OR from the train station walk down the hill on Trafalgar Street to St Peters Church (Stop L) and catch the number 52 'big lemon' bus towards Woodingdean stops outside the house near Ovingdean Stores (runs every hour).
