Sunnieside Cottage is situated on the beautiful Northumberland coastline in the fishing village of Seahouses. The cottage is ideally suited to couples and families with children over 12 years old (we cannot accommodate parties of golfers, divers, stags, hens etc.). The cottage is stone built and well placed in a quiet cobbled square in 'Old Seahouses' only twenty five yards from the harbour viewpoint. It is very relaxing to take a coffee or a glass of wine to sit and watch the sun sink down over Bamburgh Castle in the evenings. Sunnieside Cottage has an excellent outdoor patio which a garden seat and a table and chairs. The cottage has a downstairs lounge with a log burning stove and TV, two double bedrooms on the middle floor and a studio loft conversion on the top floor. Please bear in mind there are two flights of steep stairs. The third floor “crow’s nest" lounge has widescreen TV a comfortable double bed with views out to sea. Many guests have commented on how two lounges worked well for them. The shower room and toilet are located on the middle floor. The views from our third floor balconies are exceptional, looking out to sea, the Farne Islands and Bamburgh Castle.
Steve and Pam have hosted guests for 20 years and always endeavour to make your stay memorable and enjoyable. 40% of our bookings are repeats, many of whom have become friends over the years. We are retired teachers who love the beach and the great outdoors. Seahouses is a brilliant holiday destination and we believe Northumberland is a "hidden gem"...there is so much to see and do.
Seahouses is fortunate to be surrounded by an area of outstanding scenery. A few miles off shore are found the Farne Islands, a sanctuary for sea birds, seals and dolphins. Inland lie the Cheviot Hills, Northumberland National Park and the county town of Alnwick (voted the Best Place in England to live!), home of the Duke of Northumberland. Our fisherman's cottage was built in the late 1800s. It was originally connected to herring fishing and the famous Swallows Fresh Fish Retailers is just round our corner. . . . Brilliant if you enjoy seafood. Equally the village boasts Indian, Italian and Chinese restaurants as well as excellent local "pub grub" Northumberland is an amazing county with so much to offer and adventures to enjoy. Seahouses in particular is an excellent choice for a vacation, whether you want to put your feet up and relax or see all the sights. The beaches are, of course, without parallel and the nearby castles are not to be missed. Our cottage in Sunnieside Square is unique, in that it lies at the heart of Seahouses, just seconds from the harbour but is in such a peaceful and relaxing location.
