The annex is a newly renovated barn conversion with comfortable, contemporary furnishings and fully equipped kitchen area, as well as its own internet connection service. With its free private, off-road parking and a pub across the road (drinks only) and only a few minutes from the A30, it makes an easily accessible place to stay and explore the delights of West Penwith and beyond. - All linen and towels are provided - fresh towels and tea towels can be provided for longer stays. - Tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits are provided. Semi-skimmed milk is also provided as a matter of course but alternatives will be sorted out if sufficient notice is given. - Complimentary free cream tea with homemade scones is on offer for week-long stays.
Mary and Adrian love having guests to stay in their recently converted barn situated next to their house. Both are retired professionals who went on to own a big guest house out at St Just for several years before ‘retiring’ to Madron. They both have lots of knowledge about ‘off the beaten track’ places to visit and are more than happy to assist their visitors in any way they can to help make their stay the best ever! Adrian is a wonderful artist and his large, converted stable as his studio, is adjacent to the Annex. Guests are more than welcome to enter the studio and have a look at his paintings on display. Before Mary retired, she was a secondary science teacher and headteacher of her own private school. she now runs a small shop in Chapel Street Arcade in Penzance, in which she sells Adrian's art, collectables, jewellery and esoteric items. She is also a professional reader in tarot and palmistry and is always happy to read at home for guests at a special discounted price!
Situated in the old part of the village, Madron Churchtown, there are nearby footpath walks with stunning views of Mounts Bay, Madron Carn with its wild beauty, plus Madron Holy Well and ancient sights such as Lanyon Quoit and Men-an-Tol only a short drive away. The National Trust’s Trengwainton Gardens is only a short (less than ten minutes) walk and Trewidden Gardens with its wonderful tree fern walk and superb café, is only a short drive along the A30. Polgoon Vineyard is less than five minutes' drive - a delightful place to walk around, enjoy wine tasting and indulge in its very 'select' shop with delicious goodies. Lands End and the sandy beaches of Sennen and Gwenver are less than half an hour’s drive, as are the south coast beaches of Long Rock, Marazion and Perranuthnoe. St Michael's Mount is definitely worth a visit and St Ives is probably a 'must', too! Although it is less than half an hour's drive, it is better accessed by the park-and-ride from St Erth , a short drive east along the A30. Penzance, is only minutes away. It has an open air 'lido' swimming pool, a local museum and art gallery in Penlee Park, lots of interesting shops and a variety of good places to eat.
