The Nest at Rose Cottage is the last house at the end of The Slad. It is in a beautiful country setting with stunning views from all aspects. The Nest is a an upside down house with an open plan kitchen, dining and lounge space including a log burner upstairs. There is a raised decking area off the upper level providing a private outdoor space, surrounded by orchard trees, meadow, roaming poultry, an abundance of wild birds and views towards the Forest of Dean which will take your breath away. Downstairs are two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower, and utility space. In May 2025 our family, who had been living in The Nest, finally fled and so we have redecorated and furnished it as a holiday let. We look forward to welcoming visitors to share this truly special place. In September 2016 I embarked on the new adventure - retirement, after 45 years in education. I am a very proud mum of two sons who are also educators and three adorable granddaughters. Roger (my husband of 45 years) and I have lived in glorious Gloucestershire, at Rose Cottage, for the last 25 years, after many years in East London but having originally hailed from Gloucestershire. We are living the dream and really appreciate what we have. It is wonderful to be able to share this with visitors, friends and family. I am really enjoying retirement, especially the opportunity it has given me to develop my passion for gardening. Keeping fit is important to me and I love walking with our dogs as well as my local WI walking group. My new fitness adventure for 2019 is becoming a 'Silver Swan' - ballet classes for oldies! I love life and new challenges.
Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Set in a beautiful rural environment but less than half an hour from the historic city of Gloucester or the delightful market town of Ross on Wye. The Forest of Dean is on our doorstep where many activities can be enjoyed, from wonderful woodland walks, cycling pursuits, walking llamas or adventurous climbing pursuits to name a few. There are also a variety of walks you can take directly from The Nest, so ideal for guests with their dog.
