Set within the grounds of our 17th Century stone house, The Old Stables, is a delightful, newly renovated open plan living cottage, set within its own grounds. 2 bedrooms, each with their own ensuite bathroom. The cottage has private patio area overlooking its own garden. Sleeps 4 comfortably, either 2 super-king beds or four singles. Additional sleeping for guest bed in each bedroom making a total of 6 beds. We can accommodate 2 more in house in king size bed (see separate listing).
Hi, everyone calls me Sam (short for Samantha). I've lived in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK for over 20 years now and would love to share my home with you. Myself and my husband Bruce have 3 grown up kids who are at uni making their own lives. We are keen cyclists and paddleboarders and try to get out and about as much as possible. We work hard and play hard. You can expect a warm welcome and a lovely room to enjoy your break. The owners live in the main house and are available should guests need us to help with any queries.
The village of Barford St Martin is conveniently situated 6 miles from Salisbury and 2.5 miles from Wilton. The Barford Inn, village pub is within 5 minutes walking distance from the house and there is a Shell service station selling cheap fuel and Budgens convenience shop as you drive into the village from Salisbury. We also have an 800 year old active church, where you can participate in services or the many Christian celebrations throughout the year. Barford St Martin is located within the Nadder Valley and Cranbourne Chase, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A quintessential 'chocolate box' village, Barford residents will assure a warm welcome, making you feel like you are a resident for the duration of your visit. We are a vibrant community and residents convene at the pub for much conviviality on a Friday night. A fete is held in the village once a year in the summer to raise funds as can been found in most villages in the Nadder Valley including May Day celebrations where children still dance round the maypole. Alternatively, take part in Oak Apple Day, (dating back to 1603) in Great Wishford where the residents celebrate there rights to collect wood in Grovely Wood.
