The cottage enjoys magnificent sea and rural views. It is quietly located, set in natural croft land with magnificent views of Loch Pooltiel, Dunvegan Head and on a clear day the Outer Hebridean Islands. With no light pollution, at night, there are amazing starry skies. It is possible to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Highland cattle and sheep graze here in front of the cottage and there is plenty of wildlife to be seen.
Having holidayed on Skye and the West coast of Scotland over the years, we decided to build a home on Skye, for ourselves and others to enjoy.
Waterfall View provides the ideal retreat for relaxing and watching the ever changing vistas and is a super base for touring this mystical and historic island. Take a visit to Dunvegan Castle (the oldest inhabited castle in Scotland and seat of the Clan MacLeod) and a boat trip to see the seals basking on the rocks in Loch Dunvegan. Boat trips include a sea trip from Portree to see the varied sea and bird life including the sea eagles, glass-bottomed boat trips and a ferry trip to the Outer Isles of Lewis, Harris and Uist. No visit to the Isle of Skye is complete without a trip on the Bella Jane from Elgol to Scotland's most isolated Loch Coruisk. The island boasts some wonderful restaurants including the world famous €˜Three Chimneys€™ and The Kinloch Lodge Hotel. If you enjoy swimming outdoors then try Glenbrittle’s magical Faerie Pools, or try kayaking, sailing, fishing or scuba diving in the crystal clear water around Skye's coastline. Skye is the most important centre for Gaelic culture outside of the Western Isles, and almost half the population speak Gaelic.
