At Whitewood, you are sublimely located just 5 miles from the popular port town of Hayle; known for its association with the Cornish industry of mining, whilst also boasting miles of sandy beaches. The beautiful estuary, which separates Hayle and Lelant, is a wonderful spot for watersports. You have the lovely beach bar Gilberts, right on the water's edge, perfect for a sunset tipple. Hayle beach is a 3-mile-long sandy beach that stretches from Hayle Estuary ,the most south westerly estuary in the UK, also home to a variety of birds perfect for keen bird watchers.
Fancy a day by the pool? Why not visit Hayle Outdoor Swimming Pool, open during the summer season so perfect for those hot Cornish days. It is an open-air pool, heated using a solar covering, and located on King George Memorial Walk in Hayle, this walk is lit by lights at night making it great for evening strolls.
Head to Gwithian Towans, a quieter beach which is dog friendly all year round, located in Gwithian, a coastal village in west Cornwall three miles north-east of Hayle. Visit Gwithian Academy of Surfing located in Gwithian and take up a new skill whilst on holiday, have surfing lessons or hire a surf board, you choose! This is located directly next to The Rockpool Beach Café which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Around 15 minutes from Hayle, sits postcard pretty St Ives. Explore its narrow-cobbled streets and fisherman's cottages and visit the local museum full of interesting facts about life and times of bygone St Ives. Then head over to the Island; the fortified headland is surrounded by an array of wildlife and the coastguard lookout hosts breath-taking views of St Ives Bay.
Head to the south coast to Penzance and Marazion, where you will find the magnificent, ancient fortress that is St Michaels Mount; with its remarkable subtropical gardens, expansive lawns and quaint harbour village you have so much to discover.
