I am sure that in our house you will feel right at home! Enjoy the beauties of wonderful Crete, which is magnificent in winter, spring, and, of course, summer. Get acquainted with Cretan customs, culture, and traditional cuisine.
Aspro belongs to the municipality of Apokoronas, located at the foot of the White Mountains. In winter and spring, you can admire the beauty of the snow-capped peaks against the blue sky. The surrounding area is rich in historical and picturesque villages with welcoming taverns, as well as attractions such as the island's largest freshwater lake, Kournas, and the ancient ruins of Aptera. The region is very green, with many walking trails, making it attractive in any season.
Just 2 kilometers from Aspro lies the small tourist village of Almyrida. There you will find two supermarkets, a bakery, shops with traditional products and souvenirs, a pharmacy, taverns, cafés, beach bars, and vibrant nightlife. Almyrida also has a bus stop with an hourly bus service to Chania.
The village of Gavalohori, 3 kilometers from Aspro, was once famous for silkworm farming and stone carving. Many houses from the Byzantine, Venetian, and Turkish periods have been preserved here. Be sure to visit the Folklore Museum. Gavalohori is an excellent starting point for exploring Chania and the Apokoronas area.
The nearest city, Chania, with its airport, is 24 kilometers away. The port of Souda is 19 kilometers away, the city of Rethymno is 40 kilometers away, and the municipal center of Vamos, with its taverns, cafés, and banks, is just 7 kilometers away.
The house is ideally located for day trips to popular attractions such as Elafonisi, Balos, Samaria, Preveli, Chania, Rethymno, Sacred Monastery of Arkadi, Drakona, and more.
Since the house is equipped with heating, you can enjoy the beauty of Western Crete in winter and early spring. This is the perfect time to experience the authentic Crete—without tourists, noise, or crowds. It is a wonderful season to travel around the island and discover local traditions.
We recommend renting a car to explore the stunning landscapes of our island.
