Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space with uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and just a minute's walk to the sea shore. Enjoy the spectacular sunsets and starry night skies, the wildflowers, early morning bird song, clean fresh air, and have the best night's sleep of your life! Step into an inviting, stylish interior that’s also immensely comfortable. The gable window stretching from floor to ceiling, sets the tone for the open-plan kitchen and living room. This space entices guests to relax on the sofa or chairs, enjoying the incredible views of the Atlantic ocean. In the kitchen you will find the fully stocked, open-concept kitchen perfect for cooking up a storm. The bathroom boasts a spacious rain-style shower and large bath. Ideal Location for Activities: All of the healthy lifestyle activities one associates with the west of Ireland are here: walking, cycling, hiking, golfing, surfing, exploring the beaches and much more. The local pub is where you can find the other activities associated with the west, such as music, perfect pints, friendly locals and a warm open fire to cozy up to. Location: It's a 3-hour drive from Dublin Airport. It's a 55 minutes drive from Knock Airport. Enniscrone is a 12 minute drive away. Easkey is a 9 minute drive away. Ballina town is a 25-minute away. Sligo town is 40 minutes away. Galway city is a 2 hour drive away.
I'm a musician always moving between Germany, Spain and Ireland. I love coming back to the west of Ireland to tend to the stone walls and gardens (work in progress!).
Many guests are fascinated by the fossilized corrals dating back about 300 million years which are visible in abundance at the sea shore right in front of the cottage. There is also the "Mermaid's Path" - the remnants of volcanic activity from the distant past. There one can also take a revitalizing dip in the Atlantic Ocean. You can then enjoy the long sunsets over Killala Bay, Downpatrick Head and Pullaheeney Harbour from the comfort of the couch. If you're lucky you might see some dolphins in the bay and later you can enjoy the clear starry night skies. After a long day surfing, fishing, or lounging around you could also head down to Brown's (The Harbour Bar) for a pint of Guinness beside an open turf fire and have the craic with the locals. It's only 5 mins away! Surfing: Guests can surf a right hand reef break in front of the tents. (advanced level) Pullaheeny (advanced level) is only 5mins away and home to several left and right hand reef breaks. Easkey (advanced level) is a world-famous surf break with a left and a right either side of the castle. 8min drive. Enniscrone (Beginners +) is the perfect place for learners with two great surf schools nearby - North West Surf School and 7th Wave Surf School. 13 min drive ------------------- Food: Enniscrone has several pubs, restaurants, hotels and take-aways that do food and/or delivery. --------------------- Sea Swimming/dipping: There are a lot of popular sea swimming or dipping areas nearby: "Pol Gorm" in Easkey is a popular natural tidal pool. Just past Pol Gorm (2mins drive) there is also Munnely's Harbour which also has a seating area for relaxing after your dip as well as a Sauna! Enniscrone is popular for sea swimming at the pier where you can enjoy a coffee. There are showers and toilet facilities there too. Kilcullen Seaweed Baths is only a 2min walk from there and is a must-do in the area. Pullaheeny Harbour is another spot nearby that is beautiful at sunset for a sea dip.
