IL GLICINE-DUMENZA Due Cossani
Between nature, history and curiosity, a stone's throw from Lake Maggiore
IL GLICINE owes its name to a wisteria plant that grows inside the courtyard and that blooms every spring and is admired with its purple flowers.
The apartment is located inside an old courtyard, located in a building dating back to the late 1800s. It has been recently renovated internally and is completely new furnished in a modern and cheerful style. It is located in Dumenza - Due Cossani, a mountain village of Dumenza, about 600 m above sea level. Due Cossani is a village of medieval origins, characterized by narrow streets and houses leaning against each other, which have remained almost unchanged over time. In the immediate vicinity we find woods and nature for lovers of trekking and walking on the numerous routes marked by the paths. For cycling enthusiasts there is the Bike Park right below IL GLICINE where you can show off your bikes.

My name is Alessia, I am a worker and mother and I have been a host since 2023, also in another structure in Germignaga, the Blue Breeze Apartment, 300m from the lake. I have been doing this job for passion and independently for 2 years and from 2025 I will also take care of IL GLICINE in the mountain area of Dumenza - Due Cossani. I like being in contact with people, making them feel good and giving them the opportunity to discover our territory, our customs and our good food. I work in the office but I am available to provide information and advice by responding promptly to your messages via whats up.
Upon your reservation I will send you a small guide, giving you more advice on the place and the surroundings.

In the area it is possible to visit several historical places such as: the Church of Santa Elisabetta, built by order of the parish of the Diocese of Milan, with a decree of Cardinal Alfredo Ildefonso Schuster, Archbishop of Milan, on March 30, 1934. The Church of S. Giorgio has medieval origins and dates back to around the 12th century. Runo, “Borgo Dipinto” where you can admire frescoes on the walls of the buildings that were painted to create a “wall book” to walk through the streets of the city. The town is the starting point for several excursions to the mountain huts and pastures of the surrounding mountains, Gradisca, Colmegnino, Lema. It should also be remembered that Runo was the birthplace of Bernardino Luini (Dumenza was the birthplace of Vincenzo Peruggia, a painter). who became famous for having stolen the Mona Lisa.) Places of naturalistic interest such as; Piero's mills, where time seems to have stopped two centuries ago. The mills date back to the 18th and 19th centuries and are located in the silence at the foot of Mount Lema in the plain formed by the Giona river. Another destination is Monteviasco, a small mountain village 950 meters above sea level, which is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. It can be reached by cable car, currently closed for maintenance work. The longest and most panoramic alternative is to climb an ancient mule track with over 1,400 separate steps. A 15-minute drive from IL GLICINE takes you to Luino, Germignaga and the surrounding areas to swim in the lake at the equipped beaches (e.g. Serenelle in Luino) or on the free beaches (e.g. Boschetto beach "Sentimento" in Germignaga, Parco Giona in Maccagno).
