Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of traveling the world, exploring different cultures, and indulging in the incredible flavors that each country has to offer.
My adventures have taken me to Dubai, Greece, France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, many islands of the Caribbean, and the United States, among other destinations. Each place has left its mark on me, from breathtaking landscapes to unforgettable culinary experiences.
Yet, despite all the incredible places I have visited, I still find Puerto Escondido to be a true paradise—a hidden gem that is just as worthy of admiration as any world-famous destination. Its charm, natural beauty, and laid-back atmosphere make it a place I always return to, and one I encourage others to experience as well.
Puerto Escondido is not just a place to visit—it’s a place to connect, relax, and truly appreciate the simple joys of life.
Property information
Built in 2011, our property is a true labor of love. It features five beautifully designed suites, each offering spacious bedrooms and comfortable living areas. Inspired by a modern-colonial style, the architecture embraces natural light, ocean breezes, and the relaxed spirit of Puerto Escondido.
The property faces two streets, with four suites opening to the quieter back street and one facing the front, offering a mix of privacy and easy access. Whether you’re visiting for a short getaway or a longer retreat, our casita is designed to bring you comfort, peace, and a touch of adventure.
As a tribute to the wonderful women in our family, each suite is named in their honor. It’s one of the many personal touches that make this space feel like home.
One of our guests’ favorite spots is the terrace, where people gather in the late afternoon as the weather cools down. It’s the perfect place to relax, enjoy the breeze, and if you're up early—or still awake—you might catch both the sunrise and the sunset.
We also made sure the kitchen is spacious, because in our family, we love to gather, cook, and eat all day—meals are where stories are shared and memories are made.
When we first built this home, I joked with my wife that I’d build her the perfect retirement spot. She smiled and said, “Don’t forget to make rooms for our daughters and close family friends.” And so, we did. But as life would have it, we now only see each other a few days a year. So we made a new decision: to share this home with you. What was once just our family’s dream is now a place for others to rest, reconnect, and create beautiful memories.
The name Sicarú comes from the Zapotec language of Oaxaca and means “beautiful.” We hope you find beauty here too—in the space, in the people you meet, and in every moment you spend.
Welcome to our home. Welcome to Sicarú Suites.

Discover Puerto Escondido – Local Tips from Our Family to Yours
Puerto Escondido is full of hidden gems and everyday magic. It has a wide variety of activities to offer while still keeping that laid-back, small-town vibe that we love. And the best part? Everything is just a short drive away from Sicarú Suites!
Here are some of our personal favorites and tips to help you make the most of your stay:
🏖️ Beaches Near the Suites
🌊 Puerto Angelito Beach
This beach is one of the closest to the property and offers a very local experience. There's a large beachfront restaurant with a big palapa and plenty of shade, plus smaller tables set right in the sand. The food is solid, and there’s plenty of parking. It’s great for swimming and a family-friendly vibe.
🌊 Carrizalillo Beach (our favorite!)
A beautiful cove beach with clear waters, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and lounging. Be prepared to go down (and later up!) a lot of stairs, but it’s totally worth it. You’ll find beachside restaurants, and on the left side of the beach, you can rent snorkeling gear and other water sport items. Vendors may also come by to offer rentals.
🕐 Tip: We recommend going early in the day, especially during high season, as it gets busy with visitors from all over Mexico.
🍽️ On the main road near Carrizalillo, you’ll find great restaurants too:
El Cafecito – Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner
Estrellita Gourmet – Home-style Mexican meals, ideal for lunch or dinner
🏄♂️ Zicatela Beach
Famous for its surfing waves, vibrant nightlife, and beachside restaurants.
🚕 You’ll need to take a taxi—just ask the driver to drop you off at "Zicatela Andador".
This area has a strong international presence, with many expats, especially Americans.
⚠️ The ocean here has strong waves, so it's not ideal for swimming, but it's a beautiful place to watch the sunset, explore restaurants, or enjoy the lively nighttime vibe.
They also have another location of El Cafecito here for breakfast
