I first visited Langkawi in 1990 and eventually moved here in 2001 so my knowledge of the island and the surrounding area is fairly extensive. I still enjoy a bit of travelling when I manage to take a holiday. I like visiting new places and am interested in many things from architecture, paintings, tasting new food, gardening, shopping and having a good time .. oh and I also like animals and especially cats!

Gecko Guesthouse is one of the oldest backpackers hostels in Langkawi and it has tried to maintain the original charm of rural Langkawi. It has a relaxed vibe where guests can hang out in the tropcial garden, mingle with new friends, share stories, chat online or simply sip a beer!

Neighborhood info

Gecko has an ideal location and only 3 minutes to walk to the beach. It is off the main road and you can find other guesthouses, restaurants, internet cafe, motorbike rental etc.all nearby It is at the northern end of Cenang Beach and a stone's throw from the main road where all the shops, restaurants/bars, travel agencies are located.
