    The house has been thoroughly lived in and loved. Jane the hostess is lovely and the location is absolutely beautiful. The local people are also very friendly. Great little shops too (photo attached).

    Simpatia da anfitriã. A localização é excelente porque fica praticamente no centro da vila. É só atravessar a ponte. Gostei da vista para a Serra e o Rio Alva mesmo ao fundo do terreno. É uma casa para voltar brevemente.

Having bought my first cottage in 2002 as a holiday project I fell in love with the area and moved here from the UK in 2003. I learnt Portuguese and now speak fluently. I have added another 3 holiday cottages in this area to my portfolio of self-catering rentals all restored to a comfortable standard with modern appliances and technology.

Property information

This is a traditional house in the small market town of Coja which is approximately 7kms from the main district town of Arganil. The property was restored in 2010 to make a comfortable self-catering holiday property. The stone walls have been retained in the kitchen on the ground floor and where possible to give an authentic feel. The living room is on the first floor with lovely views across the Rio Alva. The kitchen is well equipped with everything that you may need on your self catering holiday and the garden has a BBQ and furniture so that you can relax and enjoy the lovely view. For those of you on holiday but still need to keep in touch with your emails and business there is WiFi internet in the house and satellite TV. Due to the pandemic I will not be providing towels for the bathroom or the pool this year. If necessary you can have them on arrival for a small extra charge.

Neighbourhood information

The cottage is a short 5 minute stroll from the centre of Coja which has all the shops, restaurants, cafes etc that you need. There are other local towns with weekly markets where you can buy fresh produce and the excellent local sheep cheese from the Serra de Estrela which is the highest mountain range in Portugal with snow in the winter months of Decdember, Jnuary and February. It can be T-shirt weather in Arganil and you can ski on the Serra de Estrela! The river beach at Coja is 200ms from the house where you can hire canoes and pedaloes in the summer and ther are lots of other pools and river beaches to discover along the Rio Alva and the Ceira.
