See why guests love making memories and become repeat customers at our bright, spacious 1860 New Englander. We've outfitted the house with all the amenities we love in a vacation home: comfy seating, inspiring art, books, games, luxe bedding, great coffee and tea, a fully-equipped kitchen and lots of space to gather. Includes screened porch & big yard. Situated on a quiet residential street, it's perfect for relaxing with loved ones. Just a 6-block walk to downtown Keene’s lovely Central Square. You’ll love exploring this historic home and discovering tucked-away nooks, original wide-plank floors, exposed beams and design quirks you can only find in old homes. Vintage charm combines with modern updates to keep you comfortable: custom window treatments for privacy, multiple heat sources, A/C, dimmable lights, spacious kitchen and plush beds. Family antiques, artwork, books galore and pretty dishes make it extra homey. At some point the main house and barn were connected, providing a unique layout that includes a large second-floor studio with a dedicated work- and maker-space and secret reading loft. The main floor includes: - Living room - Dining room for 8 - Kitchen - Den/game room - First-floor bedroom (twin) - Full bath - Screened-in porch Upstairs includes: - Primary bedroom (king) - Blue bedroom (full) - Library with desk - Library alcove with bonus twin bed - Studio bedroom (queen) with maker/work space - Reading loft - Full bath with dressing room Fun stuff: - High-speed WiFi - 2 smart TVs - Full library plus books throughout the house - Board games and puzzles - Poker table - Bluetooth speaker - Gas BBQ grill - Large yard - Screened porch and outdoor dining Goods: - Complimentary coffee & tea bar - Kitted-out kitchen - Bath essentials and first aid - Quality linens and towels - Great reading lamps in every room Nuts & bolts: - Keyless entry - Parking pad for 4 cars - A/C - Washer & dryer in basement - Double ovens - Dishwasher - Microwave
I was born in New Hampshire, lived in England as a little girl, attended college in the South and have lived and worked in Portland, Oregon for two decades. With two kids in tow on most trips, travel isn't as far-flung and freewheeling as it used to be for my husband and me, but if you run out of sunscreen and Z bars on the road, we're here for you. Home away from home is anywhere with a stack of old magazines, plenty of Vinho Verde and a good beside reading lamp. We keep our home clean and tidy and will treat yours with equal care. I'm now an Airbnb host with my sister Lisa since we created a family retreat in Keene, NH. We're thrilled to open our vacation home up to others when we're on the other side of the country. Years of traveling have helped us create a supremely comfortable, well-outfitted home filled with all the things we love in a getaway destination. Favorite destination so far: toss-up between the Croatian island of Vis and Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Best part about traveling with kids: they make friends for you wherever you go. Where I want to go soon: Iceland, Portugal, Tofino, B.C..
The area The house is a quick walk or drive into downtown Keene, a quaint college town with terrific restaurants, shops, parks, bars and entertainment. Situated in the beautiful Monadnock region, there is so much to explore! Hiking, orchards, lakes, farms, classic towns, ski areas, rivers, bike trails, museums and more. We’ve written a guide to the house and local attractions to tip you off to some of our favorites that we’ll send upon booking.
