The story of the "talking leaves" is about Sequoyah, a Cherokee man who invented a written language for his people in the early 1800s. Sequoyah called his words on paper, "talking leaves." You can learn more about Sequoyah and talking leaves at the Mentone Arts Center. Mentone Arts Center is a community art center created and supported by the community, for the preservation of the Mentone and greater Lookout Mountain areas' artistic, musical, and cultural heritage.
