What a glorious find in Somerset West. Although not cheap it is a wonderful hotel that exceeded our expectations. Wonderful rooms, so comfortable, fabulous food in the restaurant. A great spa completed the fabulous stay!!
Crisp clean bedding. Delicious breakfast with eggs and bacon made according to one's desire and a variety of yummy homemade jams. Very attentive hostess. Friendly and curious cats.
The breakfast was advertised as being inclusive. However, you could select any item from a limited menu to the value of R190. If you went over your budget, you were responsible for the amount. Menu too limited. Night-time no food service available, had to venture into town to find food.
There are multiple areas within the hotel grounds to wander, with a large grass area that is spacious. The guest rooms are solid hotel standard. I didn’t have a view but I guess I had their cheapest rate. Game drives I suppose coincided with feeding times, so animals are where they should be when you drive by. You have plenty of opportunity to take photos. The free flow bar was a pleasant surprise halfway through the game drive. All meals are buffet and it can be a little hectic if you’re not used to large crowds.
Well laid out, well appointed and comfortable apartment McGregor is a nice village with good restaurants. Eating out was so cheap we did not "brai"
Shaz was very accommodating in arranging a number of special requests before we arrived e.g. feather pillows (thank you) - we were upgraded to a room with a balcony and lovely view of golf course and mountains beyond (thankyou) - the room itself was very pleasant; with air-conditioner and overhead fan. - Bed was very comfortable. - Shower had good water pressure. Wifi was good - breakfast was lovely (according to my wife .... my 7.00am tee off didnt afford me the luxury of breakfast)
Booked a premier luxury cottage and paid in full upfront. I was later informed cottage had burnt down and they moved me to a cheaper option , I was told R962 would be credited to my room and if not used would be refunded. When I checked out I was told head office would handle it and refund my account. This was January 5 th it never happened. I wrote to them and I’m still waiting for a response. The place was more like a zoo than a real safari. . Best part was safari guide who was excellent and we saw the big 5
Beautiful and peaceful location. Hosts were so friendly and engaging. The wine from their vineyard is lovely and silly cheap.
It was ok we would stay there again considering the budget.
