The War Memorial was incredible, but very busy. Parking available is limited to 4 hours, and you really need more time, or better still, two days, as it gets quite overwhelming trying to take everything in. We had arranged for two family members who had died overseas in World War 1 to be honoured with a Last Post Ceremony. The people at the museum were warm and welcoming, thoroughly informed and supported us through the process. The Last Post Ceremony is a must. Very moving. We were invited to lay a wreath during the ceremony to commemorate my Great Uncle. Totally unexpected but the Memorial staff we’re so well organised and everything was provided for us to participate. The whole Memorial is well managed and respectful to our veterans. Take advantage of the staff and their knowledge. Museum part of the Australian War Memorial gave me the stories and horrors of war. Give yourself plenty of time to read and learn, it is scary to read what us humans can do to each other, important for all of us to understand the misery of war. Hall of Memory, The Unknown Soldier all who worked in War Memorial told us not to miss. Don't Miss It.
