Sadly, this park is looking more & more rundown & uncared-for. The overgrown grass make it feel less safe & not as willing to stop & park & get out to browse through the park. So very very disappointing!!!

The Inn was really a lovely historic building with much character. The bed was comfortable. The shower was great. The breakfast was exceptional. Staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. We started the day with jogging through Beacon Hill park amongst the deer. Walked to Royal theatre to see a matinee musical. Wandered to Cooke Street Village for coffee and bookstore. We even walked (30 mins) through town to dinner on inner harbor. Appreciated not having to drive in downtown traffic!

The James Bay Inn is a beautiful old building with lovely antique furniture, colourful carpets, and a delightful atmosphere. Every member of staff we had contact with were super friendly, helpful, and jovial. Location was excellent. It was just a couple of blocks walk to the Empress hotel, Government buildings, museum, and waterfront area; one block to Beacon Hill Park, one block to the supermarket, JBI Pub right downstairs, and surrounded by amazingly beautiful old homes and gardens.

The location could not be better for those not wanting to be downtown. It is right next to Beacon Hill Park and across the street from the beach. The room was spacious with beautiful oak paneling. The bed was comfortable, plus there was ample seating. The small kitchenette was a bonus, though not necessary as breakfast was exceptional.

This was a last-minute stay for us, and we were very pleased to find this lovely place. The location was perfect for walking everywhere.(we walked to/from Save on Memorial arena, downtown Victoria, James Bay and Beacon Hill park during our stay). Cindy was very responsive and provided lots of recommendations for local eateries, etc. We stayed in the Van Gough themed room, which was super clean and spacious. It was also great to have reasonably priced parking on-site.

Great little hotel in a super location. Newly refurbished. Our room, 404, had a small kitchen and dining area, big windows and a balcony. The vaulted ceiling and skylight made it feel spacious and airy. Easy walk to downtown, Beacon Hill Park or to the Dallas road breakwater. Breakfast far exceeded our expectations, we enjoyed a full breakfast even with our food allergies. Underground parking was another unexpected surprise.

The Helm’s Inn is an excellent choice of hotel in downtown Victoria. Only a few minute walk to the BC Museum or Beacon Hill Park. The suites are quite large and the kitchenette was well appointed. We have stayed here many times and will be back again.
