As we left Auckland and boarded our Fiji Airways flights (which was great by the way) to Fiji they announced over the tannoy "your journey to paradise begins..." and do you know what, they really weren't wrong. The flight was excellent, our flight arrived on time but despite a delay getting through customs, security and luggage pick-up our driver from the hotel, Kesho, was waiting for us. And that's where our experience really began with The Fiji Orchard. We had a very comfortable drive to the hotel, a transfer of about 35 to 40 minutes in the traffic, in a very comfortable and spacious almost new Toyota Land cruiser. What we didn't realise was that the Fiji Orchid was once the holiday home of Raymond Burr, star of Perry Mason and Ironside, programmes from the 1960s & 1970s. Raymond Burr loved orchids just as much as he loved Fiji, hence the name of the hotel and the restaurant, Raymond's. Upon our arrival at the hotel, 4 or 5 members of staff were waiting to greet us. This was really special, including Ledge who checked us in, a really straight forward, relaxing and easy experience. Everyone was so very happy, in fact everyone that we met was so happy. We felt really welcome from the moment that we arrived. We've read reviews from guests who have criticised the welcome and the check-in process, which is ridiculous, it was lovely. Our bags were taken to our bure whilst we finished our welcome drinks, before we were walked to our bure. There are only 6 bures, so a maximum of twelve guests. The bures are well spread out, each one backs onto its own little bit of the rain forest. Our bure was lovely, it was very clean and spacious. The main area is separated into two areas by curtains, the bedroom and lounge with seating. There's a small desk and chair. Lying in bed late at night listening to the rain was so relaxing.

    The hub of the island and the location of the nicest mall...

    The hub of the island and the location of the nicest mall with anything you would wish to buy. This is where all day cruises leave from for the outer islands. Great restaurants and bars for an evening meal and drinks with live music. It is a good idea to book accommodation near the marina.

    Not much in take away food.

    Not much in take away food. Only a bread shop that sold pies and sausage rolls as well. Found the chemist shop assistant very rude. The usual souvenier shops . Good clothing stores. Nice to see and easy to get there by the Bulla bus. $10.00fg all day hop on and hop off.

    We stayed only for one night, but it was a good experience. The location is excellent, just next to Denarau Marina. The apartments were spacious clean, comfortable, and well-maintained with good WiFi connection. After check-out, we were allowed to leave our luggage at the property for a few hours, which was very convenient.

    The staff at this hotel were fantastic. After an accidental bag swap on arrival at the international, the wonderful lady on afternoon duty at reception on 25/06/25 was of great help to get the hunt for my bag sorted. I’m very appreciative of her help. The security staff were very kind and always looked out for us. The cafe on site served amazing meals and drinks until late. The 2 bedroom apartment was so spacious and the location of the site could not be any more convenient with the Denarau marina directly opposite it.

    The resort was right next to the beach, a stone throw away from the Port Denarau Marina, and easy access to all the places we wanted to visit on our trip. One of our highlights was the food - no matter where we went out of the 3 restaurants on site, the food was always yum.

    It was fully self contained over 2 levels. The apartment was a short stroll to Denarau marina which saved us money on taxi fares which for our family of 5 is $20 each way from other resorts in the area.

    Sofitel is a great resort with most of the offerings of island resorts within close proximity to Nadi airport and Denarau Marina. The kids love the kids clubs, the multiple restaurants on site offered variety and quality food options and the staff were fantastic. The family rooms have a separate bunk room, making them perfect for a family of 4, and the wing of family rooms are all in close proximity to the kids club and kids pool area. The Fiji Airways check-in at the hotel, including bag-drop is a massive time saver!

    Very handy location 50 meters from Port Denarau marina, great if you have to stay a night before/after heading to the islands. Supermarkt, Restaurants and shops on your door step. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment which was beautiful and spacious.
