Edinburgh Castle

Stretching down almost 100 feet, this tree-like coral shelf lies in the middle of a beautiful garden of gorgonians. It’s in these plants that the rare pygmy seahorse makes its home – so Amed Wall is your best shot of catching a glimpse. Reef sharks and sea turtles also roam these waters, so there’s no shortage of deep-sea wonders to check out.

Having a tour guide is recommended and you should plan on starting the tour around midday so that you get to see the canon firing at 1 pm. You do need to be able to walk on cobblestones and walk uphill. Not recommended for those in wheelchairs or with limited mobiity

In order to truly understand a country, it is essential to first become acquainted with its history, as well as its cultural and ethnographic heritage. The tour I took part in at Edinburgh Castle was led by an outstanding guide who skillfully maintained our interest throughout the experience. With a touch of humor, she presented only the most important and noteworthy highlights, making the tour both engaging and informative.

    Love it!

Love it! Took us longer than anticipated to walk around due to the crowds, in September. We pre-purchased out tickets for 11 a.m. thinking we'd end with the 1 p.m. gun salute. However, earlier crowds were still there at 11 a.m. and it just got busier and busier. It became tough to really enjoy the exhibits and the interior rooms got quite warm (it was wet the day we were there so we were carrying jackets). There were also lines to get into various spaces. When we left at 2 p.m. the line ups to get in were wild and I can't imagine what their experience would have been like. I would highly recommend getting your tickets in advance for the earlier time slots, if you really want to enjoy the exhibits around the castle.

Not the most interesting castle. Fabulous views of the city.

Not the most interesting castle. Fabulous views of the city. Most of the interior has been stripped. The Crown jewels were absolutely nothing compared to The Tower of London exhibition. Very unsuitable for wheelchairs and buggies all cobbles and slopes. Difficult with a stick. All in all a bit of a tourist trap all around the area.

We saw Edinburgh Castle on our last trip but there is always something new to see. Look for the room with the tapestries hanging from the wall - they took 13.5 years to complete. Missed that last time. There is a lot to see.

This is a modern, clean, large apartment with comfortable beds, showers and common areas. Very convenient to public transportation. Easy airport access using tram and very easy to Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile and Museums. The staff were professional, helpful and readily responsive with any of our questions.

The location was everything! Edinburgh is so walkable, and this apartment was easily accessible to many main attractions. Only a few minutes from the Edinburgh Castle! The facilities were clean and secure with a dual locked entry. I felt safe inside the property. Gorgeous interior. Bathroom was trendy and large, and the kitchen was stocked. All in all, I recommend anyone and everyone consider this home for their Scotland stay. Thanks for a great visit!

This was a nice hotel located within walking distance of Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle and the Grassmarket. The room was clean with comfortable beds and pillows (not super fluffy)! The breakfast was good, with the perfect chance to try Haggis (don't google what it is, just try it first). The staff was welcoming and helpful.

The hotel is fantastic. I've loved the interior design: it's beautiful and you really get the Scottish vibe. I recommend to include breakfast because you get a breathtaking view on Edinburgh Castle while eating. The location is amazing: I've been walking to every main Edinburgh attraction. EVERY person in the staff is amazingly helpful and warm. They gave me great advice about where to go, what to do and it has made my trip much easier and better. I'm super grateful and I'll come back with the family!

The hotel’s location is the best part! Very convenient and accessible to many attractions in just walking distance. My room has a balcony with nice overlooking views of the city’s iconic landmarks such as Scott monument along Princes St and Edinburgh castle…They also serve really good breakfast with great selections (including haggis). And the staff were very attentive to your concerns and needs.

Very nice apartment with everything we needed in a good area. Easy walking distance to Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, and other attractions. Almost across the road from a very good restaurant (Buck’s Bar). Paid parking available just behind the castle and very close to the flat. We booked a last minute stay and arrived within 20 minutes of booking - everything was ready and perfect. Host was quick to communicate and friendly.

Room was spacious, and the views from the window are magnificent. Hotel was very easy to get to from the Edinburgh Waverley station. Breakfast is available upon request however I did not opt for breakfast. I booked the King Suite with City View and it did not disappoint. I could also view the fireworks from Edinburgh castle for the military tattoo they had during my stay.
