I can't believe what an amazing building this is. We stayed in the rooms with the lofts, and they are gorgeous and very well appointed. Each room had a turntable a guitar and lots of nice little amenities (I used the hot water bottle to sooth an aching shoulder). The guitar has a tuner on it too. The mini bar area is very well stocked, and it is quite reasonable priced. They want you to have a beer, and they're not going to make you pay £10 per beer like some hotels. We also got a keg in the room for a little bit more money, and there are of course the famous shower beers. The decor is really cool too--all based around their funky art they use for the beers. Even if you are not a big beer person, it is a great place to stay, The restaurant downstairs has delicious food with really nice portion sizes, and the breakfasts were included with our room--full breakfasts right off the menu, not a sad hotel breakfast. I especially recommend the vegan breakfast. We also got a free welcome beer and a free beer for not requesting towel laundry, although housekeeping did come every day to make the beds. They are well staffed and have lots of chill, friendly people there to help you out. Even if you're not staying at the hotel, go there to hang out in the bar or for brunch. They also have a nice terrace and patio to sit outside. The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from the last stop on the 100 Airport Bus, and it's really close to all the downtown sights. We were able to walk to just about every attraction from there. Finally, I have to say that it's a nice and quiet hotel too. It's on a quiet street, and the walls are very thick, plus there's two doors between you and the hall. I slept great there. Definitely a nice place to stay for anyone wanting to explore Edinburgh.

This is by far the most well organized and interesting ways...

This is by far the most well organized and interesting ways to express information that I have experienced. We found one day just got you started. I would advice one to get the layout of the divisions and plan several days to visit. I wish we had. My; daughter and I have studied and she has worked in archeology. Having the museum include the modern time next to the ancient time was refreshing.

    Love this place.

Love this place. If you've come to see Scotland, see Scotland but also come here and know more. A great contrast to the noise and spectacle of the Edinburgh Festival; a treat for the mind. Lovely soup and cheese scone under the gaze of a stone cat commissioned by King Amenhotep!! Then up close and personal with David Coulthard's RB2.

Very good venue - to see it all would take days.

Very good venue - to see it all would take days. Best advice is to pick a section and really look at it - gives you an excuse for a return trip to Edinburgh to see another bit of the museum, along with all the other atractions.

    Do not miss this place!

Do not miss this place! It is huge and we could have spent all day there. An incredibly beautiful building. It was quite overwhelming at first to know where to start as there isn’t a route as such to follow. It was very busy and crowded in some areas and empty in others. Impossible to sit down in the cafe as it was so busy but there are lots of seats fitted around if you need a break. We almost missed it but there is a roof terrace which is well worth a visit with super views of the city. And it’s free!!!! But there are donation stations for making your own choice of what to give. A duper super place!!
