Beautiful room, attention to detail and decor, treats for the guest like bathrobes, slippers, welcoming chocolates etc. The staff was absolutely fantastic, especially Cameron who did our check-in, he went the extra mile to make sure we are comfortable and he also helped us to plan our trip around the city to make the most out of the limited time we had in York. Breakfast was worth the money. Access to parking on the premises was also a win for us. Thank you for a lovely stay!

York Minster

All piercing spires and vaulted ceilings, York Minster is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. The most important Anglican church outside London, this ancient cathedral dates back to the 12th century and houses some of the world’s finest medieval stained glass. While adults gaze in awe at its airy interior, youngsters can have fun hunting for the gargoyles that grace the façade.

Of the several Cathedrals I visited in England, this was the most impressive. Be sure to take the stained glass window tour! Hint:take a small binoculars when visiting Cathedrals so as to see the details in the stained glass windows high above your head.

it is big. If you like big then go.

it is big. If you like big then go. If you get dizzy thinking about heights maybe don't look up. It is expensive to get in and when in the first thing that greets you is a big box to put further, your choice, donations. For me I always admire the architecture and think of the poor craftsmen who died in their hundreds building these things which are more an adoration of the local clergy than God. Jesus di not ask for big monuments costing millions and killing and maiming the common man and woman, the ones Jesus came to free.

One of Britain's most iconic buildings.

One of Britain's most iconic buildings. Definitely take advantage of one of the free guided tours since the guides are so well trained and informative, pointing out all sorts of details that you would probably never spot on your own. The tickets are good value when you consider the above and the fact that they are good for entrance for the entire year from the time of purchase. You need to give it at least a couple of hours to do it justice and be sure to take in the undercroft, the crypt and the chapter house, if not a climb up to the top of one of the towers.

Beautiful minster which had the Pheonix light show available. That was mind blowing. Return the following day and spent 2-3 hours looking around everything. Did the tower challenge and realised how unfit I was lol. Fantastic views over the city of York. Coming down was easier

It’s so beautiful and lots of history to it , takes a few hours to get round and see everything and read all the history of it , it is quite expensive to visit I found £18.00 per person not to sure on child prices but I found it to be well over priced they give you a ticket that allows you to have entry for a whole year but whose going all year round unless you live there , if you have more then 2 in your party I would think about the cost before you go

Splendid! One of the largest gothic cathedrals in the world.

Splendid! One of the largest gothic cathedrals in the world. AKA St. Peter's. Not inexpensive but well worth the visit for the history and the architecture. Stained glass windows are remarkable. And there is, of course, the story told regarding the fire on the 11th of July 1984 which burned the South Transept and destroyed the Rose window. On July 9th David Jenkins was consecrated Bishop of Durham at the Minster. He was rather controversial in his views and a recent speech delivered suggested his disbelief in the Virgin birth and of Christ walking on water. On the 11th of July York Minster was hit by a bolt of lightning!

Jorvik - an interesting journey through time and well worth visiting. York Minster and the crypt with it's Roman history and the story of how they are saving the Minster from sinking and cracking further. The Yorkshire Museum with its different exhibits ranging from Richard III, the Romans and Medieval times to extinct animals of the world. Also the museum gardens are worth wandering around.
