Fantastic location! Walking distance from a lot of major attractions and despite being in the city center we did not have any issues with noise at night. The breakfast was also great, a lot of choices each morning and great quality cheeses and charcuterie. Also, that rooftop terrace was amazing! Great views during breakfast and lovely cocktails at night. We were very pleasantly surprised by how professional, friendly, helpful and informative all of the staff was. They immediately offered to give us tips and suggestions for restaurants and sights.

Roman Forum

More palace than museum, El Prado is a true cultural treasure trove. Its hallowed halls hold one of the world’s finest collections of European art, from the fantastical figures of Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights to the dark, twisted beauty of Goya’s legendary Black Paintings. It needn’t cost the Earth either – in the evenings entrance is usually free.

Be prepared for a long walk. It is worth it.

Be prepared for a long walk. It is worth it. Make sure you have water with you, as there is very little shade, and in summer it gets very hot. The day we went, it was 40 degrees celsius. From here you can easily walk to the Coliseum, but make sure that you have prebooked tickets to both

Gone are the days of strolling through the Forum and sitting...

Gone are the days of strolling through the Forum and sitting as the ancients did among the temples and spirits, remains of daily pre-modern life. But if you can take the time to get into the Forum in a quiet, personal way, it is an experience worth having. As a tourism tour, not so much. Try to enjoy ancient Rome quietly and peacefully, on your own with time and space to receive from it.

get the ticket from the coopculture.it who manage the whole site and the Colosseum. The total experience ticket is cheaper than a lot of the tickets offered by other companies and gets you access to areas that others don't including the stunning house of Olivia.

Buy the ticket for Colloseum at the enterence to Forum...

Buy the ticket for Colloseum at the enterence to Forum Romanum and Palatin, you will avoid giant line (3 attractions cost altogether 12 euro)! FAst track ticket for the VAtican Museum is also good idea (we did it), you can buy at the enterence to the St. Peter's Basilic. It is quite expensive, but it helps you to avoid huge line and to see both attractions during one day.
