I recommend going there first thing in the morning to avoid the crowds of tourists. There is parking nearby (about 4 minutes walk) - guarded, but more expensive. Anyway, it will be enough for you for max. 2 hours to see all the sights around this tower.

Well worth climbing to the top of the Tower, but you need a head for heights and be mindful that the angle of the tower makes you feel like you leaning over to one side as you climb. That definitely was uncomfortable for a lot of people I encountered.

Don't do anything in the middle of the day if it is summer-time, and make sure that you know how to switch on the air conditioning in your room/hotel. Do enjoy walking about - there are some lovely views, streets and trattorias across the river.

Tickets for climbing the tower costs 20 euros/person. Children aged over 8 years old are allowed to climb up to the top of the tower. isn’t a good idea/practice to climb up the tower because of the safety concerns, renovation and regulations.

Most people take their photos right in front. There are hundreds of people especially between 10am and 3pm. Go around 4pm and walk to the other side of the tower. You get great shots and less crowded areas.

You can book tickets ahead for the Leaning Tower of Pisa - we bought tickets at the booking office to go up the tower for the following day. They are sold in blocks and in August you can book for times running well into the evening (we did 7.30pm) when it is a little cooler!
