The centre of Lecce is stunning but streets further out give you a better idea of real life. Day trip (train/bus) to Otranto was well worth it, take swimming gear. I came from the train station and it was a direct route. Music was everywhere and I enjoyed the unpretentious cafes nearby. The staff were very responsive and helpful.
