Trevi Fountain

Much to the annoyance of his fellow gods who chose to simply materialise, Oceanus preferred to travel by cumbersome shell-shaped chariot. Constructed in 1762 at the height of the baroque, the Trevi Fountain is one of the world’s most elaborate – and romantic – fountains. The God Oceanus is the fountain’s centrepiece. Swimmers take heed: beware of the vigilant fountain police!

I would suggest to wake up early and arrive to the fountain around 7 am in the morning. You will still find a big crowd of people, but it would be far more pleasant and comfortable than going there later in the afternoon.

We loved it. We got there just before they closed down the site to visitors but it was very crowded. If you want another view of it, try the store across the street which has large windows to take photos of Trevi Fountain.

    Absolutely overcrowded.

Absolutely overcrowded. We were there on a Friday late afternoon. Took the subway there and walked the rest of the way. We did not want to use the subway in the dark so we decided beforehand to get a taxi or uber back, however, they were charging astronomical prices as they knew we were desperate. We ended up going back by subway.

The fountain is incredible but the crowds ruin the experience. Go very early or later when the crush has died down. Could barely edge our way around the perimeter. The little square up the street to the right of the fountain was fun.

    There's fountains and there's fountains.

There's fountains and there's fountains. Then there's the Trevi Fountain, probably the most beautiful and famous in the world. The sculptures associated with the fountain are simply wonderful. And then there's the famous "bath" taken in the fountain by Anita Ekberg in the movie "La Dolce Vita" . . . A place of pilgrimage for lovers from everywhere.

Because of a mix up, we were offered an alternative apartment at Piazza Venezia Luxe Apartment before arrival, which we accepted, so our review applies to this apartment. The location was perfect, close to some of the main sights, like the Forum, the Trevi Fountain, etc. yet very quiet. Our host Angelo was welcoming and helpful, the apartment itself was fantastic, recently renovated, beautifully designed and furnished. We will definitely try and stay there again and would highly recommend it! :)

The apartment is 160m from the Trevi Fountain so absolutely at the heart of tourist Rome. Immaculately clean the property is fitted out to a high standard. Everything worked well and if I ever go back to Rome I would seek this apartment out if it was available.

The hotel is right in the centre of Rome and about 100 meters from the Trevi Fountain, so a very busy area of Rome, but our room was quiet and we weren't disturbed by the crowds in the streets below. The hotel had a good breakfast and the rooms were cleaned daily. I would stay here again if we revisit Rome.

The property is close to bus stop and Metro. It’s a good base for touring the city of Rome. Close to the Vatican, Colosseum and the Trevi Fountain. The bed was comfortable and the sofa bed. The private courtyard is nice for morning coffee. We enjoyed our stay at the apartment. The staff were engaging with our queries.

Fantastic apartment. Great location for seeing all the sights. Vatican 45min walk, colloseum 36min walk, Trevi fountains 50mins. Lots of lovely cafes and you have to try oteleg (gelato bar) best in Rome. The apartment also had everything you need including a espresso machine for coffee

Just a few steps away from the Trevi Fountain up the street, the hotel exudes elegance as you step in. The staff are friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The room was one of the nicest I've stayed in, comfy bed, huge bathroom, good decor. Breakfast was a bit of everything, hot and cold, fresh fruit and great coffee! I would stay there again if I return to Rome without a doubt. There is a rooftop bar that overlooks the Trevi.

We stayed for 4 nights in the two bedroom apartment and it was lovely. It was spacious and nicely appointed and with the advantage of having a washing machine ( on the balcony) but also access to the hotel breakfast. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was excellent for easy sightseeing. Rome was very crowded though, the most we’ve ever experienced and so it very congestion near the hotel as it’s just 50m from the Trevi fountain.

Rome has lots of lovely romantic spots such as the Trevi Fountain which is stunning for a romantic stroll at night time. There are lots of romantic restaurants dotted around too and if you really want to take romantic to a new level then I recommend visiting the Mirabelle restaurant - a rooftop restaurant with a terrace overlooking Rome. It is very pricey but it is stunning.
