The Vatican

The world’s smallest state is also one of its most attraction-packed spots. As the center of the Catholic Church, Vatican City is full of breathtaking religious architecture and artistic treasures. Must-sees include the imposing St. Peter’s Basilica—so vast that the Statue of Liberty could fit comfortably under its dome—and the mesmerizing frescoes at the Sistine Chapel.

A huge collection of just about everything - much more than Versailles or Ermitage ... But the main thing is the one that they won't let you take pictures of - in Sistine chapel Michelangelo drew God from behind - showing naked butt. Bold move - not just by Michelangelo, but also from the Church's point of view for allowing it. Opens up a whole new chapter of what Church is about ...

Impressing architecture, massive collons, even though it was crowded you dont feel it since the area is quite huge and there's no rush or any kind of panic by the visitors. People travelling there by themselves of with families, whenever tired always may have sit on the cool marble stairs and ground under the shadow of the buildings. Recommended to everyone visiting Rome.

Get a guide who doesn’t bore you to tears and also stop letting so many people in at one time. Too crowded, couldn’t see anything. Despite warnings to not use your camera in the Sistine chapel and to keep quiet, it was full of people talking loudly, taking photos and generally being pains in the ass!

Basilica closed due to the Conclave.

Basilica closed due to the Conclave. Museum was awesome, but tour guide moved us through the throngs of visitors so quickly we couldn't really focus on the amazing exhibits. Interesting to note, they keep the windows open without glass or screens. Very old school - we liked it.

Everything about it was perfect for me! Love the location because you can walk outside and immediately be at the Pantheon for drinks or eating a delicious restaurant or walk a little more and the Vatican. Take a very quick $9 taxi to Trevi Fountain even though it was raining one night it was so easy and the hotel provided my umbrella. The cutest streets outside to walk in and shopping is there too.

The apartment owners seemed to think of just about everything that we could possibly need and had available. They were very responsive to checking in and questions. The location was very convenient. It was a 4 min walk to the Vatican and 11 min walk to nearest metro. There many restaurants to select(from touristy to local family owned). The terrace was a nice way to end our evening.

We really enjoyed our stay. This comfortable & cozy apartment is in a FANTASTIC location, just steps away the Vatican entrance, the Ottaviano Metro stop, with lots of shops and restaurants all around. The space was sufficient for us for a short 4 day/ 3 night stay. The place was clean, well-equipped, the beds were comfortable, and the AC was great. We were able to cook our breakfast & have our coffee before we went out for the day. The host was very friendly & accommodating. We would definitely stay there again.

Incredible apartment in an excellent location. Close to the metro station, the Vatican, and many other landmarks. If you’re comfortable with public transit, it’s a great home base for Rome travelers looking to explore the city without needing to be directly in the city center.
