It was OK - depends on how much experience you have with wild life in other parts of the world. The walk is about 40 minutes each way. There was male, female and private onsen available. There was excellent service, and they welcomed our young toddlers. We got driven to the Jigokudani Monkey Park and picked up by Yumoto-san. For this visit, it was the ideal location! Right in front of the hotel was a bus stop that went to the park. The hotel itself doesn't offer breakfast, but they work together with a hotel nearby for a traditional Japanese breakfast which was a really nice experience for a good price! You also had the possibility to reserve a private indoor onsen, which was a fun experience. They picked me up from the Yudanaka station and then drove me to the Jigokudani monkey park entrance the next morning. I also did the dinner and breakfast and it was a highlight of the stay. The onsen on the property is great and I liked the yukata they provided.
