Fantastic hotel, very good client service, 24/7 reception, located in the city centre. The room was very nice and comfortable with big comfortable bed. It was nice, clean and quiet. Next to the hotel there are plenty of tasty restaurants. The receptionist ordered a taxi to the airport for us.

It’s a pillar in the central part of the city.

It’s a pillar in the central part of the city. It’s also called Republic Square and used to be a place where citizens of Almaty gathered for demonstrations or important hearings/ announces/ speeches ( during soviet era), and celebrations. Other than that there are a bunch of municipal or government buildings flanking it and ugly apartments from the soviet era in the background. Don’t make a special trip to see this…as did I. Waste of time. It is close to the Central State Museum. So if you plan to visit the museum you can also Tick Republic Square ( Independence Monument) off your list of attractions to see. As a solo trip to visit this location my vote is a strong No! Don’t go just to visit this.
