The surroundings are beautiful; the river is a stone's throw (a short throw) and with strong legs you can climb up to the hiking tracks outside the valley and have a walk (there's an exquisite restaurant a kilometre away). The staff were all really helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. Coffee and tea etc were available all the time in the lobby. The hotel was 10-15 mins walk from the train/bus station, just a few minutes from some restaurants (I really liked Kaku Maja) and also close to the Sigulda Castle complex.
