Albert Cuyp Market
Sometimes it takes a while for love to bloom. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a case in point. This ornate Russian Revival cathedral was built at the end of the 19th century, while Estonia was part of the Russian Empire. Considered by many to be an emblem of imperial oppression, it was scheduled for demolition in 1924. However, that never came to pass and here it stands a century later, as one of Tallinn’s most iconic landmarks.

Go in the late afternoon (4:30 or so) when the market is closing and the fish vendors are throwing their leftovers away. Herons come (we saw six or seven) and eat the scraps. It's fun. I love a street market, but for me, there weren't a lot of...
I love a street market, but for me, there weren't a lot of interesting stalls. Mostly fabrics, cheap clothing, food, other touristy knicknacks. I did, however, love De Peperbol -- a kitchenwares store where I picked up (too) many cute tea towels.Guest review byLiliUnited States
