Caddo Lake State Park is for those who love the outdoors or nature. It is an environment that is rare-huge cypress trees growing in the water hung with moss and moss draped trees all around. A sever winter had damaged the trees somewhat when we last were there, but they had not yet leafed out for the season. There are many quirky and usuaual places to stay, including a houseboat made into a three story lodging. Restaurants tend to be seasonal, but it is close to Jefferson and not far from Marshal. Taking a tour through the lake is like going back in time. You will see lots of animals, birds, maybe a beaver or snakes, even alligators. Fishing there is a lot of fun. The east side of the lake is dotted with working oil wells pumping away. It is a very unusual place and well worth visiting. You won't forget it! Some people even claim to have seen a bigfoot there!
