Our hosts were lovely and very welcoming, Dredd gave us an amazing rundown of where to find things in Nozawa Onsen with many great recommendations. We went to Nozawa Onsen for skiing and this place had the best location, about a 2 minute walk from the gondola, and with dry room ski storage. The included breakfast was delicious, we loved the Onsen eggs. If you’re keen, the common areas are an amazing place to meet other people skiing, or enjoy the fireplace that’s often on in the evening. The location is very close to some very good Onsen which are amazing after Skiing. Absolutely would stay there again!

Fantastic spot, people are super nice, cozy environment. The pairing with Olive rental for Ski gear makes it super convenient when leaving, since you can just leave the ski stuff at the hotel. Breakfast is nice too, as are the rooms.

Even so I stayed only one night, I felt felt really welcomed from the first step in the Hotel. The owner was very friendly and warm. They cooked a very good dinner for me. After a perfect and silent night in the very cozy bed. I enjoyed a great breakfast before I was driven by car to the bus station by the owner. I can absolutely recommend this place.

Great location, a few minutes walk from the bus stop and main street, and just a few more minutes to the escalators which take you up to the skifield. Friendly staff, great breakfasts and the dinner we had one night was delicious! The Japanese style bathrooms are nice, currently you can book them for your private use. Fantastic place to stay if you want to enjoy the snow, or just absorb the atmosphere of a small ski town (please try the steamed buns sold in the street!). I would definitely recommend staying at Marushige, I would like to come back again one day.

Nozawa Peaks was the perfect hotel option for the town. It's right next to a lift that takes you to the main gondola and a short walk from the main gondola anyway. It's moments walk from one of the nicer onsens (hot springs) in the town which was special as you could pop round to soak off the day's skiing. The room was thoughtfully and tastefully refurbished in a period hotel with just the right details preserved to give the hotel wonderful mid-century character with comfy modern bedding and facilities. The owners however are the best part! They were so helpful, kind and supportive - knowledgeable about restuarants, skiing routes or anything you needed. It was like home from home. The property is self-catering with a communal kitchen for you to prepare meals or drinks (and a Swiss bakery next door!), a living room with TV for films and a restaurant next door. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay at Shiga Kogen Lodge. The meals were incredible particularly the dinners which were different each night and allowed us to try many traditional Japanese dishes. The traditional rooms and onsen were excellent. My boys loved to play with their gorgeous dog Moko each day. The owners were so friendly and always available to answer questions. The lodge is super close to Yokoteyama ski resort which had more than enough ski runs for us. We would definitely recommend this place, thank you for a great stay!

This family run lodge is fantastic. I loved everything about it. I could walk to Mt. Yokete to jump on a ski lift or a local bus that shuttles you to the other mountain locations. The couple who own the lodge are so nice and serve the best meals (breakfast and dinner). I enjoyed relaxing in the onsen, after long days of skiing and being entertained by their beautiful golden retriever, Moku. If you have the chance to ski in Shiga Kogen, I would recommend this traditional Japanese lodge.

We had an excellent stay. The staff, food, location, room, everything was great. We had to leave early in the morning and the staff got up plowed snow so we could get to the road. Could not recommend this lodge enough.
