Angelo is an exceptional host—kind, friendly, and always making you feel at home. He went above and beyond to take care of us, arranging tuk-tuks and responding to all our requests. Plus, he's great company! The place is stunning, with a perfect location and a luxurious room. Surrounded by nature, we spotted amazing wildlife, especially the adorable Grizzled Giant Squirrel! Everything ! The view, the fact that it was in a guest house with a really nice familiy ! They can help you with the tuktuk to go up to the main Road as the guest house is situated in the nature. The breakfast was really good! Don’t hesitate to book 💚

Best stay ever!! Everything was amazing!! The extremely caring host, the comfortable great room, bed, lighting, amazing view to the train tracks and lush nature. We immediately felt like part of the family. Devaka has been showing us around his beautiful garden. He is generous, warm -hearted- a very great person! He got deep into our hearts. He brings the word "homestay" to another level- never have we felt so at home in such short time!! We got a tea from his own garden every day as well! The food is home cooked and of course also very delicious. It is the best authentic caring beautiful homestay ever in Sri Lanka

We had a truly wonderful stay and couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. The accommodation was absolutely fabulous—comfortable, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully designed to meet every need. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, going above and beyond to make us feel at home. The food was another highlight, offering a delicious variety of well-prepared dishes that delighted our taste buds. This was the best breakfast we received in Sri Lanka. Overall, it was a perfect getaway, and we’re already looking forward to returning!

Sat on the train writing this and genuinely feel sad to have left this place. Felt like a home away from home (with better food and views). The whole family are so so kind and we felt like and extension of their family during our stay. The accommodation is lovely with your own separate bedroom and bathroom (even mini fridge) with the most beautiful terrace overlooking the hills. We had some of the best food of our whole trip here. The breakfasts were huge and delicious and they were very flexible with timings so we could get out early for walks! We also did a cooking class with the family which was a highlight and learnt how to cook so many dishes! The son gave us a tuktuk ride to the beginning of our walks and to the train station at 0630am! (and even found out for us that the train was running from the next town instead) We also rented a scooter for the day which was a great way to explore the surrounding area and they gave us lots of pointers about where to go! Cannot fault this place at all. If you are lucky enough they have availability on your dates, definitely don’t hesitate to stay!

The cottage is in a beautiful location - perfect for enjoying the views of the valley around Ella, including Ella Rock. You can also hear Ravana Falls at night! The host was exceptional - she was always available to help for recommendations and anything by we needed. We also did a cooking class with her which was amazing, and definitely recommend this to any guests staying.

People are very friendly and the view is amazing! Breakfast is very good aswell. Location is on the way to Ella rock. Very beautiful to wake up there and have breakfast with the best view I have ever seen!

    The Spice Lodge is a special place located within walking distance to Ella center. The family that runs the lodge are the kindest, most helpful people. The breakfast was delicious, and the dinner we had was the best curry we had on our trip. Highly recommended lodging.
