Boasting an outdoor swimming pool, free BBQ facilities and a free airport shuttle, Saltbush Retreat is a 3 minutes’ drive from Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame and Qantas Founders Museum. The self contained accommodation offers free transfers from airport, train and bus stations on request. Absolutely wonderful stay at Saltbush. We were greeted by a lovely, friendly man (his name escapes me) who gave us a great recommendation for a butcher so we could get some steaks for dinner. The entire place is cozy and rustic. We didn’t use the baths but they looked so cool! Rooms were spacious, our cabin looked out onto some grass with kangaroos grazing, which was a delight for our 9 month old. It had everything we needed, including wine glasses, I only wish we’d bought a bottle from them! Highly recommend, we had a lovely little stay :)

The lodge provides guests with a terrace, mountain views, a seating area, satellite flat-screen TV, a fully equipped kitchenette with a fridge and a microwave, and a private bathroom with shower. A toaster is also provided, as well as a coffee machine and a kettle. We enjoyed our stay at the Mist at Cape Tribulation tremendously. The eco-luxe pavilion we stayed in was well-designed, clean and close to the amenities such as restaurants, Madja, Kulki boardwalks, and Thornton’s Beach lookout. In the evening, we also enjoyed sitting on the day-bed at the verandah, observing the sights and sounds of the floral and fauna of the Daintree Rainforest. Lilian and Kim were excellent hosts — hospitable, warm and friendly.

The lodge offers a sun terrace. Loved the focus on wildlife spotting and nature, the look and feel of the eco-lodge (paintings of wildlife, outdoor space, open kitchen), really enjoyed talking with Bella about the wildlife we were seeing and where to go out looking. Also loved the complimentary coffee/tea and milk, free fruit from the garden, as well as the communal kitchen.
