At first I hadn't realized that the hotel is not at Skye but on another island, which requires a ferry . It made me so nervous that I almost booked another hotel. Thank god, nothing else was available. Raasay and the Distillery is one of the best places we ever stayed in! The hotel is beautiful! Charming and warm. The view from our room was breathtaking, the room was modern and beautifully furnished. Staying on an isolated island is an amazing experience. We met a few members of the team and they were all super friendly, welcoming and had a lot of patience for our endless questions about the isle, the habitants, the roads, the sights, etc. I wish we had time to stay longer. Breakfast was very good, tasty and assorted. The restaurant has a huge glass window facing the sea. The scenery is so beautiful that we couldn't care less about the food :-)

The property has been restored brilliantly. Its owner has combined the finest of the old bones of the croft cottage with an exceptional modern taste. An example of his refined design instinct is the disused chimney and fireplace on the north side of the house in the kitchen: having extended the house to include the sunroom that takes advantage of the world class views of the Cuillin which has its own new modern fireplace, the old one in the kitchen has been cleverly turned into kitchen storage, which feels a bit of a tribute to the structure’s origins, on top of just being a clever and economical use of the space. Also, the sturdy stairs of wood and glass with skylights above that feature dreamy mountain vistas from the top turn a small space into one that feels massive. The bathroom is generously sized, the bathtub is luxurious, and the furnishings throughout are comfortable and attractive. The photos are accurate, but they can’t do justice to the thoughtfulness of the design, nor actually the heart our host has so clearly put into it. Crucially I want to add a personal note or two. We arrived during what must be the three days a year that Skye is (slightly) hot. I wrote asking where I might buy some fans, thinking I would but them and just leave them behind for any other guest who likes it as cold as I do. But not an hour later, our host had purchased fans for us from a distance, and guided us to where we might go and retrieve them. For a fairly newly listed holiday let, these are hospitality instincts only found in the proprietors who really care. And when I asked if there was a screwdriver lying about to tighten up the newly procured fans, there moments later up the road came Mark, of Mark and Alison, owners and operators of Isle of Skye’s celebrated - rightly so - tea house, Amy’s Place.

should be very close to the ferry termimnal. originally we tend to take the ferry to skye island and that's why we chose to stay in this hotel. however, the ferry tickets were sold out thus we went thru the skye bridge to armadale. it took around 20 mins to the hotel from skye bridge by driving. still convenient. but i believe that it will be more convenient if you take the ferry to reach there. if time allows, can go to the armadale castle which you can reach there by walking.

This property exceeds its description. It is beautiful as a cottage, in a beautiful location. Very well equipped, stunning views and the owners are available should there be any issues. The first property we’ve been to in many years that did not disappoint in any way.

Our recent stay at Skye Lair was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beauty of the surroundings and the sheer luxury of the accommodation. The property itself is a masterpiece, blending modern design with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from the high-quality furnishings to the well-equipped kitchen and the comfortable, spacious bedrooms. It felt like a true home away from home, but elevated in every way. What truly sets Skye Lair apart, though, are the breathtaking views. Each morning, we woke up to panoramic vistas stretching as far as the eye could see. Whether it was watching the sunrise or enjoying a quiet evening with a glass of wine , the scenery never failed to leave us in awe. The location was also ideal for exploring the Isle of Skye. It served as the perfect base for visiting iconic sites all while offering a peaceful retreat to return to at the end of the day. We cannot recommend Skye Lair highly enough. If you’re looking for a place that combines luxury, comfort, and unforgettable views, this is it. We’re already dreaming of our next visit!
