The private onsen was great for our family to enjoy the experience together rather than in the gender segregated public onsen. The food at dinner was high quality and authentic for the region. Close to some great nature. We went swimming in the river which was welcome after sweltering in the city for days. Facilities were great. Very clean. Staff is super helpful so no need to be affraid as a foreigner. What an amazing night of great dreams I had after the onsen relaxation. We loved our room - one of the traditional rooms - the staff enter the room at dinner to make up the traditional beds on the floor. The dinner we had was absolutely amazing too, and so was breakfast. Our room had a stunning view over the valley and was really spacious. The onsen itself is very relaxing and it is a cool experience getting to go down via cablecar.
