The tenant has been great with me since the check-in (very late) and also he made me breakfast even if I was late and no pressure! The room was big and clean, all amenities were available and the place is just great with a lot of nature around. Great for a road trip!

The location is excellent, the room is very cozy and clean. All the equiptment in the house are very modern and the beds are very comfortable too. This hotel is the best one we like during our travelling time. By the way, I like to thank Mr. Yagawa's help. If without him, We couldn't solve our car accident smoothly on that night. He drove 50 mins to meet us, and spent couple hours to communicate and translation for us with the towing and insurance company. We are very appreciated with his enthusiasm and help.

The cottages are quite basic, but nice old Japanese style and the view from the terrace is amazing. The host also arranged me a brand new electric mountain bike which worked very well for me to see the area around, such as Aso volcano and Takachiho gorge. The WiFi worked like a charm. Definitely recommend!

Enjoy to stay with Hide and his wife ! Very friendly and give me some train time details ! Both of them can communicate in English. They also provide the kitchen for cooking . They own the Thai restaurant on Friday & weekend . I love their stylish toilet and their cat is so cute. Thank you !

This is a beautiful traditional (restored) Japanese house. Exceptionally spacious and comfortable for two people. The balcony at first floor and patio area with sun loungers to the rear were nice for relaxing at breakfast time and in the afternoon sun after a day out to Mount Aso. The highlight however was the optional barbecue evening meal in the impressive annexe. The host couple were incredibly kind and helpful and the meal was out of this world. The annexe building also has some impressive TV/audio facilities. It was a very memorable stay and we would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Love stay. Host was wonderful and organised a meal reservation and drove us there without any additional cost. Home was lovely and clean. Other guests and us had great time socialising in common area. Amazing to be so close and have a view of mount aso.

It’s beautifully decorated and we love both the outdoor and indoor onsens!! The food is fantastic as well!! Service staff spoke some English and all very professional and helpful. I love the location as well. Very central and so close to everything!

Everything was perfection - starting from my arrival, public bathhouse experience, the cozy room, delicious dinner and breakfast and very kind staff members. The view of Mt. Aso from the third floor lookout and the footbath area is impeccable. Also, much special thanks to Mr. Isao Tsugayasu, who was extremely helpful and kind to us throughout the stay! Wow did Ryokan Shinsen ever meet and exceed our expectations! Our room was incredible. The cleanliness and attention to detail in the design of the property and gardens are wonderful. The staff treated us like gold. They were especially considerate towards my girlfriends serious gluten allergy at dinner, and also my desire to not eat seafood.

Rental villa Gontaya, a property with a terrace, is situated in Takamori, 50 km from Kumamoto Castle, 25 km from Mount Aso, as well as 39 km from KK Wings.

Very nice house close to Mount Aso. For us as western foreigners the whole region was quite different from the picture we typically make ourselves of Japan - much more rural and rather sparsely populated. Very interesting to see and experience. Ken is an excellent host, giving great recommendations and caring for his guests.
