This beautiful preserved building holds many stories and you can feel it when you sit in the still courtyard with a view of the misty mountains. Careful consideration has been put into curating the space to make it feel homey and calm. Fukuta Yasuhiro (the host) shared local wine and sake with us in the charming kitchen and we all gained more insight into the history of the Nakesendo trail. I wish we could have stayed longer. Kampei!

Amazing place. The staff was extremly kind and helpful. The rooms, bathrooms and showers were clean, the beds in a two-bed room were very comfortable, the air-conditioner kept the room warm. The fact that the place is repurposed school, gives it great and unique atmosphere, that really adds to the serene and authentic experience that Magome offers.

Amazing experience. Beautiful traditional Japanese house in a small town in the middle of the mountains. Every house item is crazy cool and beautiful. The owner has thousands of good records and will do a selection for you. Bed are comfortable. The level of attention to every single detail - from lighting to coffee or snacks - is beyond everything I have experienced. My only regret is not to have stayed longer to chat a bit more with Takashi - the music passionate who has the house and the amazing little cafe next door - to get to know him better. For sure a super interesting and lovely host!

We loved the house, the surrounding mountains, the kindness of the owner. The beds were very comfortable. Everything was perfect and we miss this place already!

Fabulous property. We felt very welcomed. The space is amazing and private. The onsens are amazing ( inside and outside onsen) and overlook a waterfall. The food was fantastic . We would recommend this place as a great experience

The staff are so obliging and can't do enough for you. The room was amazing, traditionally and tastefully furnished. The view of the river is incredible and it is so close that you fall asleep to the sound. We found that the local restaurants require a booking, make sure that you speak to the staff who are very happy to discuss options and call the restaurant to organise.

Hotel Fuki no Mori is a 20-minute ride from JR Nagiso Train Station on the hotel’s free shuttle. Guests can enjoy walks at the garden or the scenic areas surrounding the hotel.

Really nice place. Attentive staff, terrific meals, beautiful location, nice onsen. Great experience to lie in the outdoor pools and gaze at the stars.
