The accommodation offers room service, a tour desk and currency exchange for guests. It’s a pity we did not book more nights in this accommodation. We travelled through Guatemala and this was kind of a break from our tight schedule and we couldn’t be happier. The accommodation is amazing (the scenery made me forget the fact we had to share a bathroom with the other guests), and the whole staff is kind and nice. Definitely a recommendation and, if I ever go back to Guatemala, I will definitely book a (longer) stay here!

Perfect for exploring Rio Dulce, Lago Izabel and the surrounding area.

A recently renovated campground located in Miramar, Coco Bamboo Beach Camp features a garden. There is an on-site restaurant, plus free private parking and free WiFi are available. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. The Camp is located at a wonderful small beach, surrounded by palm trees and mangrove forest. The whole small camp is designed were nicely and made with a lot of love. It has a very nice chill/kitchen area with a large table to get together with the other guests and volunteers. We could join the family dinner and breakfast for some extra money, which was very tasty. We did rent kayaks and went to the mangrove forest. The host Laurence helped a lot in preparing the trip and gave us a lot of information to arrive to the camp and go to Livingston. She was very helpful and kind as the other guest were. I would recommend to stay at least three nights, but a few days longer would probably be even better.

Good breakfast!

Hostal Blood Moon is situated in Rio Dulce and has a plunge pool and pool views. This guest house features free private parking, a 24-hour front desk and free WiFi. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen, full-day security and organising tours for guests. Freshly cooked pancake breakfast was included, the kitchen is well equipped and very clean. The owners are so kind and helpful, make you feel very welcome. The facilities are all well maintained and there is even a pool to take a dip in! Far enough from the main road that it is peaceful but only a 2-3 minute walk.

Situated in Rio Dulce, 5.5 km from Castillo de San Felipe de Lara, Hotel Real del Rio features views of the pool. There is a year-round outdoor pool and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. Great location with restaurants nearby. Staff is friendly, nice and helpful.

At the hotel, the rooms have a patio with a river view. Free WiFi is accessible to all guests, while some rooms are fitted with a terrace. This was consistently the best food we had during our whole stay in Guatemala. The common lodge was so homey and inviting. We loved hearing the rain on our tin roof in our building. Bonus: The ferry to Livingston left directly from the Hotel pier. It was wonderful.

The hotel provides an outdoor swimming pool and free WiFi. Lovely lodge in the jungle. Suggestive location with rooms in the canals with crocodiles (don’t worry they wont eat you!). Rooms were perfect for being a lodge. A couple of nice activities are available such as a walk in the jungle and kayak in the lake. Most pleasant surprise was the food… simply extraordinary for a low price compared to Europe, and I’m quite picky usually as Italian.

Hotel El Reformador is located in Puerto Barrios. Featuring a garden, the 4-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The hotel has a terrace and garden views, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant or a drink at the bar. Staff was super friendly. Incuded breakfast was very good. Great shower with good water pressure.
