Some more there was a warm welcome as soon as I got off the ferry and the helpful staff made me feel welcome throughout my stay right up until I stepped back on the ferry. Loved the breakfast so much! Very tasty, filling and healthy.

The owner, Pak Ali, is a kind and inspiring person. He also runs a foundation for children with cleft lips in Sumatra — which made my stay feel even more meaningful. Upstairs, there’s a vegetarian café with delicious food. They grow some of their ingredients on-site (farm-to-table concept), and I was blown away by the haloumi sandwich – they even import the cheese from the UK! It’s not just a place to stay, it’s a place that stays with you. I’d definitely come back if I visit Toba again.

The toilet was also very spacious. The owner, Mr. Bloom, was exceptionally nice. Collected and dropped us at the harbour, and was very kind to pick us from a village nearby when we didn't had transportation.

Tiolina is an exceptional host, incredibly kind and helpful. She arranged a driver to show us around the island and gave great advice for taking the ferry. The food was delicious, and nothing was ever too much to ask. The location is outstanding, and if you get the chance, ask her to sing! Her traditional Batak songs accompanied by her slightly out-of-tune piano only add to the charm of this magical place.
