The friendly approach from the four female staff members I encountered: reception, restaurant, breakfast room and housekeeping. Fabulous, large, comfortable room, recently renovated, high ceilings with tall windows on two sides: one with stunning view of mountain which you could almost touch, and the other of a leafy park. There was also a small private balcony. Located right across the street from the railway station, so couldn't be more convenient, yet it was quiet. On this visit I received a welcome voucher for a beverage of choice from the restaurant and a free pass for travel within Glarnerland.The hotel's motto is roughly to make guests feel at home and I certainly felt comfortable at this hotel. The village of Elm, with an interesting story, is just a short bus ride from the hotel. There are other points of interest there too. Research it. Well worth a visit. Supermarkets and other shops are a short stroll from the hotel.

Love it. The location is amazing. The staff are super welcoming and very hospitable. Made to feel welcome. The rooms are modern, very nicely done in terms of the interior design. Best hotel ever with regard to having power sockets available all throughout the room. Makes charging phones so easy. same for the restaurant. You can plug in up or phone charger at your table. Totally well done. Other hotels don’t even come close in being so good, so well thought through. Best value for money for a hotel room in Switzerland.

Great facilities, if you stay here you can make use of the swimming pool and spa (including saunas for free). Also well located with a bus stop in front of the door, with buses to the Näfels and Ziegelbrücke train stations (for connections to Zürich and Glarus) and to Mühlehorn (for the Walensee). Alternatively it's a 15 min walk to the train station. Also if you stay two nights, you get your train tickets for free from the local tourist authority (make sure to apply for this at least 4 days in advance, search for "ÖV-Anreise Glarnerland").

I had a truly wonderful stay at Stadthof Glarus. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and well taken care of. The hotel is located in a beautiful spot right in the center of Glarus, making it easy to explore the town and enjoy the stunning mountain views. The rooms have been recently renovated and it really shows—everything felt fresh, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The combination of modern comfort and classic charm made for a very relaxing stay. One of the absolute highlights was the service. Every member of the staff was exceptionally kind, attentive, and helpful. Whether it was providing local recommendations or making sure I had everything I needed, they went above and beyond. The hotel’s restaurant deserves special mention. The menu offers a great variety, but the Lebanese food in particular was outstanding. It’s not something you expect to find in the Swiss Alps, but it was genuinely some of the best I’ve had—full of authentic flavors and clearly made with care. The hummus, falafel, and grilled dishes were all amazing. Overall, Stadthof Glarus exceeded my expectations. It’s a perfect mix of comfort, hospitality, and great food in a charming location. I would happily return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

it was very dirty and smelly. the floor was extremely dirty and sticky. in the room description they said that the bathroom had a hairdryer and all the utilities but they were missing. the night lamp had no light bulb. the bed was unwashed and smelled of sweat, the sheets were definitely not washed. i asked for a bottle of water and they asked me for 10 francs. totally unpleasant stay. all night the staff made noise and in the morning from 5 o'clock and started making strange noises in the ceiling. i was extremely scared and disgusted by this place. i paid a price that i could have paid in a decent hotel.
