This is for sure one of the best life experiences, and we have seen quite some interesting things by now. The area is unbelievable, very well tsken care of. Wild animals everywhere in their natural habitat, many different activities to do day by day and Hainer is another added value to El Zota as he is a great guide, always willing to take you on a tour, by day or night. There is also a restaurant on site so you don't have to worry about being thirsty or hungry at any time.

Perfect for a stay before/ after tortuguero! Simple, but very clean and comfortable hotel with extraordinary friendly and supportive stuff. Parking lot in front of the room. Pizza restaurant nearby. We even were allowed to let the suitcases with them for our night at tortuguero, as we did not feel comfortable with letting them in the car and the ferry does not have big luggage capacity. Thank you so much again!

I'm doing a bicycle trip. After a long ride you need a shower and a comfortable place and I had it. The hosts are such a nice family. I felt like visiting old friends 🧡. I like to go to such places rather than fancy hotels. You got to learn more from locals. They're so friendly and the location is very peaceful. totally recommend it.

I loved Salamandra!. The property/garden is absolutely beautiful and cozy with a huge variety of lush flora. Everything was super clean and all four breakfasts I had were different and delicious. A cozy converted shipping container just outside of town in the middle of a cacao plantation. A chocolate lover's dream! Upon arrival, Oscar, the hospitable owner picks some cacao pods for us, opening the ripest one so we can try a cocoa bean. Delicious! We savour the flavour as he explains the chocolate making process. A gift of candied cacao beans is our next tasty treat. Oscar is a good cook as well and breakfast is served at his restaurant about a kilometer away. Be sure to try the tea made from cacao bean shells. Candied, flavoured cacao beans, chocolate and cacao teas are available for sale. This was one of our favourite places to stay in Costa Rica. Oscar made us feel so welcome and was so helpful, always available if needed. Such a great and interesting experience. We wish we could have stayed longer.
