- From US$424.14 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 941 reviewsHow can one encapsulate the exceptional staff of this Falkensteiner hotel in words? The incredibly friendly receptionist meets guests with an ever-present smile, professionality, sincerity and youthful enthusiasm. She had no problem going the extra mile to ensure guests were satisfied. After our stay at the hotel, we can state the same for all staff members. Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is a textbook example of top hotel service and a source of inspiration for all hotels developing their luxury offer. The Aquapura SPA Wellness Centre stretches a staggering 3600 square metres and is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious in this part of Europe. A rich offer includes an indoor and outdoor pool, a panoramic sauna in the garden and a relaxation space with water beds and a SPA cinema. Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is absolutely one of the most prestigious hotels within the Falkensteiner portfolio. Similarly to a world-class athlete, it faces the task of beating its own standards and thus retaining its spot among the best in the hotel industry. When we last evaluated the hotel, the Falkensteiner hotel group had only started managing it. Today, it is in peak performance and is ageing almost as well as the finest Bordeaux wines. The hotel has stood the test of time, considering fifteen years have passed since the last substantial investment. Is the hotel the flagship of tourism in Carinthia? Undeniably. Led with German precision and flaunting Austrian charm, the hotel is superb in every segment.Guest review byGorazdSlovenia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 435 reviewsUpon checking in, we were provided with a Berchtesgaden card each, which provided us with free transport in the area and discounts at multiple attractions, we were also provided a map and booklet showcasing the attractions accessible with the card. Our room was perfect, plenty of space, and a balcony with seating area. The room was cleaned on each of the four days we stayed and the cleaning staff were very friendly when we bumped into them in the corridors. Breakfast was fantastic, with a full continental range on offer, some hot cooked items, and a hot drinks machine. As for location, it couldn't be any better situated unless it was on the lake itself, it's less than a minute walk to the ferry terminal, very close to lots of paths for any walkers, and 5 minutes walk from the bus station if you want to use your Berchtesgaden card to tour the local area. I would also highly recommend eating in the hotel restaurant in the evening at least once. The venison goulash had so much flavour, and is my favourite meal of our 2 week tour of Germany and Austria, and the boiled beef was great too!Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom
- From US$1,093.86 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 375 reviewsI’m used to traveling the world and staying in 5-star hotels, but I have to say — the level of service here was on a whole different level. I’ve never experienced anything like it before. Everything was flawless, and the attention to detail was simply mind-blowing. We were unexpectedly upgraded to a Corner Suite with a stunning lake view for our honeymoon, which was such a lovely surprise! The handwritten congratulatory note, signed by every member of the staff, was a truly brilliant and unique touch. We kept that letter as a souvenir Thanks for making this stay memorableGuest review byAlexandreFrance

The old town centre is very picturesque and the area around the Market Place is traffic-free. Mozart's birthpace is one of the main attractions and is very interesting to visit, and not too expensive either. I'm not too great with heights but I thoroughly enjoyed riding the funicular to the Castle for terrific views over the city and out towards the Alpine mountains. Mirabell Park is great for a leisurely stroll, and there is a small playground to keep the children entertained. The restaurants and bars are plentiful and serve a variety of different cuisines to suit all tastes, but try the local specialities such as sausages, stews, schnitzels and goulash, and there is always a good range of German and Austrian beers and lagers to choose from.Guest review byBob StreetUnited Kingdom - 10.0

If you are a curious and fit person, you can find everything in Innsbruck! Culture, nature, shopping, sports - you name it. I have been there three times for 5-7 days. I am falling in love with the city more each time.Guest review byPantic - 10.0
Interlaken was the “cherry on top” of our European travels.
Interlaken was the “cherry on top” of our European travels. The views were amazing (I’ve never seen 30+ paragliders in the sky…in the ALPs no less!!!), the area was so quaint, the locals friendly; and eating Swiss fondue somehow tastes better from the Alps! Highky recommend cappuccino and breakfast at the Aarburg (Tim & His Wife are awesome & The food not only tastes amazing but each dish is a work of art!) and the Boutique Hotel Bellevue.Guest review byRichardUnited States - 8.0

Unless you are a dedicated hiker we think one and half to two days is enough time to spend there. We had already been up four mountain peaks in Switzerland so we were more interested in the area than going up another peak. Others with difference experience may have a view.Guest review byGarson - 10.0

Definitely a three/four day trip but not a lot for 2 over 80’s to do. Most stuff geared to different sports…. which is fine if we had visited 20 years ago. Julian alps really stunning, heavily wooded, a wide species of trees, certainly very very scenic.Guest review byOuida KnappUnited Kingdom - 10.0

It is a great place to visit. the view on Mont Blanc was impressive. you have to be lucky to get up Aiguille de Midi as access is totally depending on weather conditions. Tourist office is extremely helpful. Lots of places to eat a big variety of food. A lot of shops with whatever you might need for a holiday in the outdoors. very nice icecream placesGuest review byGodelieveSouth Africa - 8.0

A lovely town filled with shops and restaurants on the edge of a stunning lake. A great place to take a boat ride to nearby towns, go for walks or enjoy the lake with nice restaurants and shops. There are two gondolas nearby and it's a short train ride to the castles of Bellinzona or the activities near Monte Tamaro. A boat ride to Gandria is also lovely, as is the walk back to Lugano.Guest review byAmieeSwitzerland - 10.0

We stayed for 3-1/2 days mostly hiking in the area in mid-August. Many tourists but manageable. Strongly, strongly suggest buying the Jungfrau Pass so you can access any trains, buses, and cable cars in the entire area. It makes it so easy to get around Grindelwald, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Murren, Wengen, First, and the Eiger. We should have booked a 5 day stay as there were some other hikes and attractions we wanted to take and see. Definitely go to Glacier Canyon and walk it to the end, but take warm clothes as the canyon is quite cool even in August due to the glacial runoff. And for sure visit the base of the Eiger. Suggest you also always get up early and get transport to your destination as late mornings (August) can be very busy and cause long lines.Guest review byParkerUnited States - 10.0

Would like to go back prepared to do the walks and hikes in the area. The old city and market were charming. Loved the Archeology museum and learning about Otzi the Iceman. Cable car and train a great introduction to the possibilities available for future visits.Guest review byKellyCanada - 10.0
Physically - GaPa is super easy to walk around.
Physically - GaPa is super easy to walk around. Mainly the walking is on flat, well maintained sidewalks. Also, If you like hiking up mountains there are plenty of trails to spend days exploring (weeks maybe?) We especially loved the mountain top restaurants. Spiritually - The Catholic Church's here (Like all over Europe) are beautiful and steeped in history. The crowds (tourists) were respectful and maintained a quiet demeanor as they walked around the church. But, for those serious about their Catholic Faith there is plenty of time in the church without crowds to spend in prayer, silence and contemplation with Jesus. Mentally - GaPa is a great place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. The people are friendly. The mountains are picture perfect. This place has got to be on your Bucket-list.Guest review byPeter
