The breakfast selection and quality was exceptional, had a real artisan feel and the lady looking after things was very on the ball and approachable. The man at reception who was Dutch was very friendly and helpful to us. He even recommended where we could eat late and watch the champions league final which was appreciated.

The hotel was easy to find--centrally located on the main road. Our room was modern, clean, and comfortable. The air conditioning actually worked, I was so thrilled (the other hotels on our trip had advertised air conditioning that didn't really work after all)!! The AC was fully adjustable in our room, so I sat there on the bed like a penguin that sits under the snow machine in the exhibit at the zoo; it was heaven. The breakfast was SO GOOD. Americans, this place had the crispiest bacon I have ever seen on the European continent. On our way to and from our room, we passed through a game room with foosball and pool tables, so naturally I challenged my husband to a game of pool (I won). There was on-site parking, and the connecting restaurant was also fantastic--we had dinner there. Our room also had a balcony which was nice. When we mentioned to the front desk upon checkout that we were going to the lake on our way out of town, they gave us a coupon so we wouldn't have to pay to go to the public beach.

We spent a few days here, as it’s an excellent location for exploring Lesachtal and skiing in Obertilliach. The mountain view is stunning, especially at sunset and in the morning when the sunlight reaches the bed. The host is friendly and always available. We recently stayed in this hotel for 4 nights at Standar Family Room with two kids. We were welcomed very warmly with the persons at reception. they were very kinds, helpful and supportive. We got our room and just after entering the room we had this nice lake view behing the large windows and balcony. Kids have a nice private area which they really liked. They were given some nice gifts to draw and enjoy their spare time. Rooms have very large bathroom with bathtub, and no toilet in it which is very good. Toilet is separate but it is very small and there is no water for handwashing. You have to go to bathroom for hanfwashing. This is annoying. Restaurants: We had really nice dinners at our reserved table with an amazing view and decoration. The menu is always rich, salate buffet and cheese buffet is rich either. There is always something for everbody. The envronment is cosy and joyful. Foods are really amazing, delicious and all the persons are helpful and supportive since we do not have any alcohol and pork. They always use the top most quality products. Breakfast is also always very good. Their products, egg menu, cheese, other options, honey, butter all are amazin. They serve you the best products. You will have health and enough food. They have plenty of space for everybody and time for all either. They have nice pool area. We really enjoy it. Their infinity pool also was amazing with the area to rest around. I could not use Sauna area because it is nude area if I understand it correctly. Everywhere is very clean, tidy. The only annoying thing will be toilletes in terms of their size, and WiFi. As a conclusion, we had very nice experience here and definitely will be back later. I really would like to try in summer. There will so many things going on in the lake area.

How can one encapsulate the exceptional staff of this Falkensteiner hotel in words? The incredibly friendly receptionist meets guests with an ever-present smile, professionality, sincerity and youthful enthusiasm. She had no problem going the extra mile to ensure guests were satisfied. After our stay at the hotel, we can state the same for all staff members. Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is a textbook example of top hotel service and a source of inspiration for all hotels developing their luxury offer. The Aquapura SPA Wellness Centre stretches a staggering 3600 square metres and is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious in this part of Europe. A rich offer includes an indoor and outdoor pool, a panoramic sauna in the garden and a relaxation space with water beds and a SPA cinema. Falkensteiner Schlosshotel Velden is absolutely one of the most prestigious hotels within the Falkensteiner portfolio. Similarly to a world-class athlete, it faces the task of beating its own standards and thus retaining its spot among the best in the hotel industry. When we last evaluated the hotel, the Falkensteiner hotel group had only started managing it. Today, it is in peak performance and is ageing almost as well as the finest Bordeaux wines. The hotel has stood the test of time, considering fifteen years have passed since the last substantial investment. Is the hotel the flagship of tourism in Carinthia? Undeniably. Led with German precision and flaunting Austrian charm, the hotel is superb in every segment.

It was all positive, the old buildings, town squares, the old restaurants in the "downtown", the spectacular views and restaurants on the lake, walking around those areas around the lake, the weather and how nice everyone was. Plus we have great friends that live there and they are the best, they showed us around to great places and we had a great time.

We caught the train from Pritswich to Portschach which was a very short journey. Their timetables at the station/collection points are so easy to understand. Portschach is a very picturesque place. The houses looked very clean adorned with flowers, very tidy streets. People are very friendly and the majority spoke English. The food was delicious especially the cakes. There was a park area which took you down to the lake. Also a play area for children. We caught the ferry over to Maria Worth and then later, travelled by ferry to Velden.

Great skiing resort.

Great skiing resort. Many ski-lifts and pistes to explore and they are all well prepared. The pistes are not too difficult, most of them are of medium difficulty, but there are also some pistes suited for learning skiers. There is also a possibility to trek to the nearest peaks with or without the help of ski-lifts. The wellness is also great with an outside heated pool from where you can see the ski pistes. The area is well suited for families since it is peaceful and quiet.
