Extremely good localisation! The ski slopes are really just outside the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, food was delicious! Saunas were always empty so we were able to use them. The swimmingpool has water at a very pleasant temperature. The gym was also usually empty and easily usable. It was very silent in the hotel. It is a very good option to buy dinners at the hotel as there is very limited number of other open restaurants in Obertauern!

Absolutely amazing with children and still the parents can have a bit of luxury as well. Ski in & ski out location is ideal! On site ski school for small kids is a game changer and the ski instructors are so attentive. Abundance of activities and facilities for children. Lovwly (adults only) spa on the 3rd floor allows for a break from the child friendly rest of the hotel.

We were on our road back home and decided to do sleepover, this hotel exceeded our expectation. Location was great in mountains, everything perfectly clean and staff very friendly. In the end we regretted that it was only one night but we will definitely come back. Extra plus for dogs being allowed in breakfast room!

    The hotel has a gorgeous view! Wish the rooms all had the same view- though I stayed in the junior suite, it was on the 1st floor and it was as wow as I would have wanted. But if you’re here to ski, it has a great location- a bridge that connects directly to the slopes, so you can ski in and out. The ski lifts are just a small slope down hill. The hotel also has conveniently located lockers for your ski gears. If you need to rent, the ski shop (with fabulous service and good quality equipment) is right at the hotel. The hotel can also arrange for ski lessons and purchase of the lift pass. There’s a lovely spa with a small pool and gym downstairs. Kids play area is small, with just enough to entertain for a short afternoon of poor weather. The buffet breakfast has a lovely spread and even includes Prosecco if you drink in the morning! Dinner menu is a five course, pricey so skip unless you prefer not to trudge out for a meal, which is about a 8min uphill walk. It is also in the middle of the two bus stops at Oberteaurn , so expect to walk 7-10 mins either way (upslope or downslope) Overall I would say this hotel is great if you want to ski, or chill at the lobby area to watch people ski.     I first visited the Rigele Royal by chance 19 years ago and took my family (aged between 10 and 42) back there this year because of my fond memories of the hotel experience and resort. To my pleasant surprise, not only was it every bit as wonderful as I remembered, The Rigele Royal has actually managed to improve in all areas. We took the half board option and can honestly say the the food selection, quality and volume were faultless. The breakfast is as good as you will find anywhere and all staff were friendly and helpful. I tried my best to speak German but they saw straight through this and were all fluent in English (amongst several other languages). The hotel is spotlessly clean and the facilities are excellent. The indoor/outdoor pool and spa area were perfect after a day on the slopes. If there is snow on the roads, you can ski in/out but if not it is only a 30-40m walk from the boot room. The hotel sits in the heart of the main town centre with bars, clubs, shops and restaurants all within a few minutes stroll. I cannot recommend Obertauern and The Rigele Royal highly enough

    Location, Hotel accommodation & Facilities, Friendly staff and Food offer = Excellent . You can exit the hotel with the skis on and on first slope experience perfect slopes or powder trails. The breakfast where you don't know what to choose, the approach the staff has towards you, the personal touch of the chef who prepares perfect scrambled eggs for you in the morning, to chocolate milk and waffles for the youngest. Countless options for choosing teas and coffees will certainly make your day more beautiful right from the start. If you want your skiing winter experience to be idyllic, be sure to book a room right here.     The breakfast is good with a wide choice of warm (saussages, eggs, ham) and cold items (ham, cheese, marmelade, cerreals, fruit, etc.). The dinner is good -allways with a meat and fish choice. Fish is fresh - as Valmar has a direct supply line from Croatia. The rooms are spatious, clean and well eqipped. The apres ski bar is well eqipped with very friendly staff. Parking slots are available in the garage , but do not forget to book a parking slot for your car in advance!

    Very nice location with great mountain view, close to attractions like Obertauern Region, but also Lungau. Spacious rooms , comfy double beds and a huge balcony. Quite nice breakfast, with an option to order in addition soft boiled eggs too. Dinner could be enjoyed on the terrace too where we could bring along our dog too. our hosts were friendly, gave all support needed. The inner pool is big, with a nice view to the mountains as well.

    Great restaurants, worth booking a table if you're in a larger group and they open later in the evening, like 5-6pm. Various menu options including vegan/vegetarian. On the slopes the bars are playing very loud music but serve quickly so you don't wait too long.

    It is a very beautiful and quiet town. Beautiful views of the mountains. Ideal for hiking. There is a very nice river that runs parallel to the main road. Maybe there should be an ice cream parlor in the summer. That would be nice.

    If you want your skiing winter experience to be idyllic, be sure to book a room right here. Hotel on the trail + extraordinary food offer (breakfast, lunch, mid-meal and dinner) + activities and content for the youngest and super-friendly staff will make your annual event unforgettable. The possibility of leaving the hotel directly on the ski lift and already in the first slope to feel the perfect tracks or powder trails, simply magical. Plus, while Obertauern is covered in natural snow, other surrounding ski resorts don't offer nearly as much satisfaction.

    Favourite places: the beautiful mountains, lakes around the walking trails, you can do paddle boarding on one of the lakes, free of charge hiring the board and paddle, breathtaking views Binggl Bakery: wide variety of pastries, bread and coffee, great place to have breakfast. Pink Flamingo: Delicious burgers and pizzas, tasty lemonades Freiwild: Friendly and fast service, delicious beef goulash/stew, pesto and mozzarella chicken, Cordon bleu, fresh mixed salad, hommade chocolate mousse, cottage cheese strudel and berries, great elderflower lemonade It is really easy to get around Obertauern with google maps Plan your visit at least for a week in summer, there is so much to do and the place is incredibly laid back and relaxing.
