A beautiful spot. Love the walks and beaches. Everybody on the island is welcoming. We did luck out with food one night as we left it till after 6.30 pm and the one place we went to was fully booked. We love Bongaree.... fantastic RSL, beautiful views, very relaxed place to visit. The seaside museum is awesome & it's free. Great little shops, cafés, safe swimming. We have noticed that it's certainly becoming busier than it used to be.....but understandably, it's a great spot. Bongaree caravan park is a nice place to stay with cabins available too. Be prepared for the fact that the breakfast is in a cafe attached to the Hotel, there is no buffet breakfast. The Cafe is very pleasant, overlooking the water. It was only 20 minutes from the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.
It was only 20 minutes from the Brisbane Aquatic Centre. The loction is rural with challenging roads that lead to considerable ''hooning" day and night. Once we became familiar with the roads, they were fine. We ate from our own supplies which were purchased from a supermarket in a mall not far away.
