I highly recommend Hotel Steinbock for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Pontresina. I can’t wait to return!Guest review bySzőcs PéterGermany
- From $380 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 295 reviewsThe hotel is beautifully located and the staff is so sweet and made us feel special. The breakfast is AMAZING, not just in variety, but also in quality. They have the best croissants on the planet. We booked a small room which was fine for a one-night stay. We went for a short walk and enjoyed a nap outside on the lounge chairs (with cozy blankets provided). The terrasse offers stunning views and dinner was delicious, with large portions.Guest review byIreneGermany

St Moritz is a "to-do" once in your life.
St Moritz is a "to-do" once in your life. There are lots of shops, good restaurants and great scenery BUT without skiing and the winter landscape St Moritz is not that special - nice place to visit but over-priced - one day and one-night during summer is sufficient to scratch the visitor's itch. Staying at St Moritz-bad is a bit cheaper whilst still close to everything and an easy walk to the big-name shops and good restaurants. Getting around by local bus (including to-from Bahnhof) is super easy, except the on-bus electronic ticket machines can be difficult. We stayed one-night and one-day and thoroughly enjoyed it.Guest review byAllanAustralia - 8.0

Pontresina is a pretty little town and so much nicer, more picturesque and less expensive than say, St Moritz, unless you are after the glamour and „status“ that comes with mixing with the jet-setters there. The main reason we have always stayed here though is the central location with easy access to and from anywhere in the Engadine and its attractive side valleys. Come here for nature and outdoor activities, not for shopping or night life 🙂Guest review byAlanSwitzerland - 10.0

Amazing staff, amazing building and amazing location in the mountains. The style from a grand past, with a young and enthusiastic team creatively working to keep this place open for visitors. Nice sauna facilities, stunning location and garden. Also a good breakfastGuest review byJoahnnaNetherlands - 6.0
This is not Ischgl be prepared for that.
This is not Ischgl be prepared for that. The village is on the quite side (or a bit boring not much to do beside having dinner (expensive usually ) and go to sleep. If you are into shopping maybe you will like the duty free shops but be prepared for the Swiss prices.Guest review bySharon KligerNetherlands - 10.0

There is a great local bakery : Bäckerei / Konditorei Piccolo (Bakery / Pastry).... we visited a couple of times to get filled rolls and drinks to take with us on trips up the mountains. The lady who works there was incredible helpful and friendly even though we had a slight language barrier with me only speaking English. Our fussy teen through the rolls were very tasty. The local buildings are full of history and a walk around the town provides interesting anecdotes to times gone by, written on several buildings. The wild flower meadows in June are beautiful and we found trips up into the mountains well worth it... they are spectacular in the summer.Guest review byGraemeUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A pristine mountain town at the foothills of the Alps, 10 min. Train ride from St. Moritz. Hardly any people. It felt like we were in the twilight zone, very picturesque with a lovely museum and great pastry!Guest review byPatriciaUnited States - 10.0

Silvaplana is very small and quiet village: supermarket, bakery, ski shop and a couple of restaurants. Cross country ski trails are 10 min walk across the bridge and there are regular buses to take you around to nearby villages. It was perfect place for star gazing and having quality family time :)Guest review byAlonaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A classic hotel with history, which alone makes it worth spending the night there. In addition, in a fantastic location that in the past was only accessible to the happy few. The hotel seems to have aged a bit, but the comfortable rooms, grandeur and views make it worth a visit. an excellent place to start mountain tours or bike tours and explore the Engadin.Guest review byMarcelGermany - 6.0

Very expensive town with a mixture of nice Swiss architecture and horrible apartment blocks that look they come from North Korea. Very expensive and in some ways, hard to see what the fuss is about. There are many nice towns in Europe and this was not the prettiest. It's famous for people who are rich and famous but if that's not you, I'd suggest skipping it.Guest review byKarlUnited States - 10.0
We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October.
We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October. It is a charming town. We arrived by train, and Pontresina makes an excellent place to stay if you want to experience the Bernina Express train journey. The railway station is within walking distance of most of the accommodation, but it would be a struggle with luggage. Our hotel had its own vehicle for transfers, I think most hotels offer the same. When we were there (early October) most of the other travellers were Swiss. While there were plenty of options in terms of restaurants, most visitors were outdoor/ nature loving folk who went for a quiet meal in the evening and then got a good night’s sleep. So the town was very quiet at night, which suited us perfectly. A pass for local transport: trains/ busses/ furnicular railways/ cable cars was included in our hotel tarrif, and this was fabulous. From Pontresina we walked to St Moritz one day and enjoyed the St Moritz cable car, then returned to Pontresina by bus. On another day we caught the train Bernina Diavolezza and the cable car to view the Morteratsch Glacier. We used the “Komoot” app to find other hikes.Guest review byKathrynAustralia
