- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 335 reviewsA Magical Stay – Exceptional in Every Way We stayed at Hotel Walther last night and it was, quite simply, exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we felt truly looked after – we were collected from the train station and personally greeted at the hotel by the owner, which set the tone for a stay that went far beyond our expectations. The service throughout was warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful. We were generously upgraded to a beautiful room with a view overlooking the mountains – a breathtaking sight to wake up to. The hotel itself is like something out of a fairy tale, full of charm and elegance. Breakfast was a real highlight, with a wide and delicious variety of options. We also enjoyed a massage during our stay – the therapist was outstanding, one of the best we’ve experienced anywhere. The spa facilities were fantastic, with a range of hot and cold sauna experiences that left us feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated. Every detail was perfect. Hotel Walther is a rare gem – luxurious, welcoming, and unforgettable. We’ll definitely be returning.Guest review byMarkUnited Kingdom

The whisky bar is the world’s largest and absolutely stunning. Special thanks to Sasha, who made our tasting unforgettable, guiding us through great and affordable whiskies, even as beginners. The experience was perfected with water between tastings and Swiss pistachio chocolate. Also, the lake view from our room was breathtaking. Highly recommended!Guest review byLetíciaBrazil

Nice to expereience this famous town.
Nice to expereience this famous town. We were there on a very sunny and dry couple of days. Walked around the town, lake and visited museums. Too expensive to shop in any of the clothes shops. Sorry that I did not take cable car to the mountains but again it was very expensive.Guest review byDenisIreland - 8.0

Pontresina is a pretty little town and so much nicer, more picturesque and less expensive than say, St Moritz, unless you are after the glamour and „status“ that comes with mixing with the jet-setters there. The main reason we have always stayed here though is the central location with easy access to and from anywhere in the Engadine and its attractive side valleys. Come here for nature and outdoor activities, not for shopping or night life 🙂Guest review byAlanSwitzerland - 10.0

Amazing staff, amazing building and amazing location in the mountains. The style from a grand past, with a young and enthusiastic team creatively working to keep this place open for visitors. There is a great local bakery : Bäckerei / Konditorei Piccolo (Bakery / Pastry).... we visited a couple of times to get filled rolls and drinks to take with us on trips up the mountains. The lady who works there was incredible helpful and friendly even though we had a slight language barrier with me only speaking English. Our fussy teen through the rolls were very tasty. The local buildings are full of history and a walk around the town provides interesting anecdotes to times gone by, written on several buildings. The wild flower meadows in June are beautiful and we found trips up into the mountains well worth it... they are spectacular in the summer.Guest review byGraemeUnited Kingdom - 6.0

This is not Ischgl be prepared for that. The village is on the quite side (or a bit boring not much to do beside having dinner (expensive usually ) and go to sleep. If you are into shopping maybe you will like the duty free shops but be prepared for the Swiss prices.Guest review bySharon KligerNetherlands - 8.0

A classic hotel with history, which alone makes it worth spending the night there. In addition, in a fantastic location that in the past was only accessible to the happy few. The hotel seems to have aged a bit, but the comfortable rooms, grandeur and views make it worth a visit. an excellent place to start mountain tours or bike tours and explore the Engadin.Guest review byMarcelGermany - 10.0
Family friendly, down to earth place.
Family friendly, down to earth place. Beautiful old village with amazing large houses. Skiing great, free ski bus. Small ski bar on top of Albanas. Several shops in Zuoz. Good restaurants (Crush Alva and Dorta). Muottas Muragl is worth a visit in good weather.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0
St Moritz is a "to-do" once in your life.
St Moritz is a "to-do" once in your life. There are lots of shops, good restaurants and great scenery BUT without skiing and the winter landscape St Moritz is not that special - nice place to visit but over-priced - one day and one-night during summer is sufficient to scratch the visitor's itch. Staying at St Moritz-bad is a bit cheaper whilst still close to everything and an easy walk to the big-name shops and good restaurants. Getting around by local bus (including to-from Bahnhof) is super easy, except the on-bus electronic ticket machines can be difficult. We stayed one-night and one-day and thoroughly enjoyed it.Guest review byAllanAustralia - 10.0
We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October.
We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October. It is a charming town. We arrived by train, and Pontresina makes an excellent place to stay if you want to experience the Bernina Express train journey. The railway station is within walking distance of most of the accommodation, but it would be a struggle with luggage. Our hotel had its own vehicle for transfers, I think most hotels offer the same. When we were there (early October) most of the other travellers were Swiss. While there were plenty of options in terms of restaurants, most visitors were outdoor/ nature loving folk who went for a quiet meal in the evening and then got a good night’s sleep. So the town was very quiet at night, which suited us perfectly. A pass for local transport: trains/ busses/ furnicular railways/ cable cars was included in our hotel tarrif, and this was fabulous. From Pontresina we walked to St Moritz one day and enjoyed the St Moritz cable car, then returned to Pontresina by bus. On another day we caught the train Bernina Diavolezza and the cable car to view the Morteratsch Glacier. We used the “Komoot” app to find other hikes.Guest review byKathrynAustralia
