My favourite City in China used to be Beijing, then I went to Hangzhou. What a wonderful city to explore. So much to see and do. My highlights were Zhu Bingren Museum of Contemporary Art in Hefang Street, the main tourist street. It's amazing bronze and metal work art. Another highlight was the Nansong Deshou Palace site museum. Excellent. The Westlake is beautiful, as are all the lovely parks around it. Easy to walk around and well lit at night. Very safe. The silk museum was also worth the visit. Otherwise, just mingle with the people, try the variety of foods and snacks on offer and enjoy the beautiful Chilled City of Hangzhou.Guest review bykarenNew Zealand - 10.0

I was initially booked at the hotel for 2 nights as I had a booking at another property. When i arrived the assistant manager Sarah gave me such excellent service as well as an early check in that i cancelled my other booking and extended my stay at this Hotel. I would highly recommend Sarah to be the actual manager and not just assistant manager as She has excellent English skills and works very well with the foreign people. Very calm and clean city. Though it is an industrial city never feel like an industrial city even if you go to the factory areas. Roads are built well and trees are planted along the sides of roads. Big thing that catches my attention was city is noise free. Couldnt hear the sound of a motor bike or even metro train sound. many places government made noise protection fences on bridges, metro rails. I am not particularly impressed with the cruise vessels, we paid for sitting in the better lounge, however only to find that its very crowed and barely found seats amongst the crowed. Downstairs cabin is worse as for such a cruise, there was not even nice windows to watch the view. By the way, we were sitting opposite a man who has been talking to himself throughout the trip. Guess he is not sane so we are not comfortable during the whole trip. The local attractions - West Lake; Longjing tea village - means for general tourists a stay of 2 days would be sufficient to see the sights and get a good sense of the place. Very peaceful and beautiful escape from the city. The main island destination - with the cable car - was a disappointment. It was a very short cable car ride up to a small, crowded scenic outlook of a part of the lake. Stuffed with stalls selling snacks and touristy plastic junk. From the moment I arrived I liked the feel of the city. It was warm and friendly. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best during my stay therefore I didn't see as much as I would have liked. What I did see didn't disappoint. Apart from the known tourist attractions there was also a lovely shopping precinct near the lake for those who like labels and fashion.
